One Day at a Time will be getting a fourth season after all.
Netflix cancelled the Sony Pictures TV-produced series after only three seasons earlier this year; CBS-owned Pop has ordered 13 episodes for a fourth season of the show.
A reimagining of the classic 1970s series, One Day at a Time features a Cuban-American family in a cast led by Justina Machado and the legendary Rita Moreno. Like the original series which was also produced by Norman Lear, the series focuses on the social issues of the day. With the show returning to TV in 2020 on Pop, the show will have an added relevance airing during an election year. The deal also includes a provision that the CBS broadcast network can show repeats of Season 4 — interesting as CBS was the original network to air the show. Seasons 1-3 will remain on Netflix though they can also be found on Pop.
Gloria Calderon Kellett and Mike Royce are among the Executive Producers of the show which also stars Isabella Gomez, Marcel Ruiz, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Todd Grinnell.
