Netflix has announced that acclaimed comedy Never Have I Ever has been renewed for season two.
The news comes a little over two months after the show’s late April debut, which was met with extremely strong critical reviews and buzz that grew thanks to word-of-mouth. Netflix got off to a rocky start in 2020 thanks to the cancellations of January premieres Spinning Out, Messiah, October Faction, and AJ and the Queen, but the streamer has made a series of renewals recently, including Gentefied, #blackAF, Queen Sono, and Locke & Key.
From Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher (The Mindy Project), with the series based on Kaling’s formative years, Never Have I Ever follows first-generation Indian American teenager Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) as she attempts to recover from a horrible freshman year and self-actualize into the popular girl she’s always wanted to be. However, personal tragedy, her family, and her friends don’t intend to make that easy.
In addition to Ramakrishnan, the series stars Poorna Jagannathan (The Night Of), Richa Moorjani (X: Present Is Past), Jaren Lewison (Tag), Darren Barnet (Turnt), Lee Rodriguez (Class of Lies), Ramona Young (The Real O’Neals), Niecy Nash (Claws), and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Heroes).
