USA has announced that acclaimed thriller Mr. Robot has been renewed for a fourth season, whose premiere is yet to be determined. Where the gap between seasons two and three was over a year, it’s possible that the hiatus until season four could push Mr. Robot into early 2019.

Set in an alternate 2015, Mr. Robot follows Elliot (Rami Malek), a hacker with dissociative identity disorder whose alter Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) helps organize and execute an attack on conglomerate E Corp. The third season has chronicles Elliot’s attempt to roll back the hack after seeing the damage that it brought and how it didn’t turn the world into a better place the way he thought it would.

Mr. Robot‘s third season has been especially impressive considering the sophomore slump the show went through and the amount of time the show was off the air. While there are shows that can come back from a bad season to make good content, rare is the show who can rebound from a misstep by making their best season and this is what Mr. Robot has done. By streamlining its narrative, keeping Elliot and his alter mostly separate, and continuing to push boundaries with its direction, the series has become one of the best dramas on television.

Mr. Robot is part of a drama slate that includes Queen of the South, Falling Water, and Colony. Its third season finale airs tonight at 10:00 on USA. You can check out a preview here.

Will you be watching season four? How do you think season three has compared to the past two seasons? What do you think will happen on the season finale tonight?
