TBS has announced that anthology comedy Miracle Workers has been renewed for a second season.

“Simon’s absurdist and comedic tales of human existence are truly unique,” said Thom Hinkle, EVP Original Programming at TBS. “He pitched us what he wants to explore in the dark ages with these brilliant actors, and it’s weird and smart and perfect.”

Based on Simon Rich’s book What in God’s Name, season one followed God (Steve Buscemi) as he decided to blow up the Earth and focus on opening a new restaurant called Lazy Susan’s. Teaming up to stop him were low-level angel Craig (Daniel Radcliffe), new Prayer-answering department transfer Eliza (Geraldine Viswanathan), and God’s personal assistant Sanjay (Karan Soni).

Set to return the core four cast members, the second season of Miracle Workers will focus on a group of villagers in the dark ages trying to stay positive in an age of inequality and fake news.

The series is part of a scripted slate for TBS that includes The Last O.G., The Detour, The Guest Book, Search Party, and TNT transplant Snowpiercer.
