After preempting its Wednesday scripted shows to dodge the World Series, CBS made another move on Wednesday by pulling comedy newbie Me, Myself & I from the schedule six episodes into its original 13-episode run. Though not an official cancellation, any new show pulled from the schedule is effectively done for, with the remaining seven episodes of the praised comedy likely to come in the summer a’la The McCarthys, The Millers, etc.
Fellow underwhelming newbie 9JKL, meanwhile, is set to take over the 9:30 slot from Me, Myself & I effective next Monday. The series, starring Mark Feuerstein (Royal Pains), was one of the worst reviewed shows of the fall and struggled to retain 50% of its original Big Bang Theory lead-in before suffering a major drop after Kevin Can Wait moved to 8:00.
8:30 will thus be filled in by sophomore Man with a Plan, which was inexplicably held from the fall schedule. The Matt LeBlanc comedy will debut Monday, November 13th at 8:30; though it only has 13 episodes to begin its season, it seems very likely that CBS will fill its order out to 22 and get the multi-cam, which they own, halfway to syndication.
In terms of back orders, Me, Myself & I won’t receive anything beyond its original 13, while both 9JKL and Sunday procedural Wisdom of the Crowd have a three-episode script order while the network mulls their futures.
