According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Affair‘s Joshua Jackson has joined Hulu limited series Little Fires Everywhere. He’ll be playing modest attorney Bill Richardson, who agrees to represent family friends in a fiery custody battle. This leads to tension with his strong-willed wife Elena (Reese Witherspoon).
Based on the Celeste Ng novel of the same name, with Liz Tigelaar (Life Unexpected) developing for television, Little Fires Everywhere follows the Richardson family as they become entangled with enigmatic mother Mia (Kerry Washington) and her daughter Pearl (Lexi Underwood). The series explores the weight of secrets, the nature of art and identity, the ferocious pull of motherhood – and the danger in believing that following the rules can avert disaster.
In addition to Witherspoon, Washington, and Underwood, Little Fires Everywhere stars Jade Pettyjohn, Jordan Elsass, Gavin Lewis, and Megan Stott. The series is part of a robust slate of upcoming programming for Hulu that includes interconnected Marvel animated shows, two live-action Marvel dramas, an Animaniacs revival, animated comedies Solar Opposites and Crossing Swords, Kat Denning comedy Dollface, John Green adaptation Looking for Alaska, and Abigail Spencer revenge drama Reprisal.
Jackson is coming off a several season run on the Showtime infidelity drama, which will air its final season later this year. His previous television credits include Dawson’s Creek, Fringe, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
