Pop has announced that aerobics comedy Let’s Get Physical has been ordered to series, with production beginning next month in Nova Scotia for a 2018 premiere.
“Let’s Get Physical is a contemporary self-aware comedy inspired by the aerobics fad that set fitness crazes in motion across the nation,” said Justin Rosenblatt, EVP, Original Programming, Pop. “The show features characters that are distinctive, full-of-heart and played by a dream ensemble cast with undeniable chemistry.”
From Michael Rosenberg (Hell on Wheels), Connor Pritchard (Workaholics), and Ben and Dan Newmark (Feed the Beast), Let’s Get Physical centers on Joe (Matt Jones), a slacker who is forced to grow up after his father, known as the Godfather of Aerobics, wills him the broken-down family gym. The series chronicles Joe’s struggles with this newfound responsibility and his rivalry with Barry Cross (Chris Diamantopoulos) that culminates at the National Aerobics Championships.
Let’s Get Physical, which joins a scripted slate for Pop that includes showbiz comedy Nightcap, family comedy Schitt’s Creek, and Return of the Mac starring Joey McIntyre, also stars AnnaLynne McCord (90210) as Claudia, a tech-savvy businesswoman who was once Joe’s sweetheart but is now married to Barry.
