Not long after word has come out about five series that will be joining The CW lineup, the network has renewed three more shows and given walking papers to two of them.
Gossip Girl will be back for an 11-episode “final season” with new showrunner Sara Goodman, and bubble series Hart Of Dixie and Nikita will both return. Hart was a DVR favorite and Nikita is said to perform well internationally.
The biggest surprise – or maybe not so surprising when people see ratings – is that The Secret Circle will not be back for a second year. Hopefully this doesn’t mean that The CW will never do another L.J. Smith-book inspired series again. Even if it didn’t work, Vampire Diaries did, and Night World might do well for the network. How about it?
The Sarah Michelle Gellar series Ringer will also not be back. As Ms. Gellar is currently expecting a child, it seemed to be a long shot to begin with.
