Disney Channel has released the first photo of newcomer Sadie Stanley in character as teenage crime-fighter Kim Possible, heroine of the 2002-2007 animated series that will spawn a live-action Disney movie in 2019.
Written by original series creators Bob Schooley and Mark McCorkle, as well as Josh Cagan (The DUFF), Kim Possible will feature Sean Giambrone (The Goldbergs) as Kim’s best friend Ron Stoppable; Alyson Hannigan (How I Met Your Mother) as Kim’s brain surgeon mother Ann; Todd Stashwick (The Originals) and Taylor Ortega (Succession) as villainous Drakken and Shego, respectively; Connie Ray (The Time Machine) as Kim’s grandmother Nana; Ciara Wilson (OMG!) as new student Athena; Erika Tham (Make It Pop) as Kim’s frenemy Bonnie; and Isaac Ryan Brown (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) as computer genius Wade.
It’s as yet unannounced what the storyline in the live-action Kim Possible movie will be and how much its plot will draw from the original series, which starred Christy Carlson Romano and Will Friedle and ran for four seasons, including two television films. More information on the telefilm reboot should be available in the coming months.
