Deadline is reporting that the upcoming third season of Into the Badlands has added Sherman Augustus (Westworld), Getting On‘s Babou Ceesay, and Clique alum Ella-Rae Smith as series regulars. Augustus will be returning as Nathaniel Moon, the former regent who lost his hand (and sword) to Sunny; Ceesay is set as warlord Pilgrim, a man furiously searching for a mysterious artifact that could heighten his station in the Badlands; and Smith portrays Nix, a teenager who Pilgrim looks at like his own child and whose abilities he utilizes like a weapon.
Additionally, the show has given recurring roles to Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones) and Iron Fist‘s Lewis Tan. Chapman will play Castor, a teenager who Pilgrim looks at like his own child and whose abilities he utilizes like a weapon, while Tan is set as Gaius Chau, who was imprisoned by his older sister, Baron Chau, for liberating her cog slaves.
Season three of Into the Badlands finds Sunny mourning the loss of Veil while balancing being a father to young Henry with his innate nomadic (and violent) tendencies. Meanwhile, Bajie reactivating the communications tower with the Azra compass reverberates throughout the Badlands.
In addition to his role on the HBO drama, Augustus has appeared on the likes of American Odyssey, Low Winter Sun, and Colony; Ceesay’s television credits include Guerilla, National Treasure, and A.D. The Bible Continues; Smith has been seen on Marley’s Ghosts; Chapman’s television past features spots on Will, Ripper Street, and Glue; and Tan has appeared on Rush Hour, Hawaii Five-0, and NCIS: Los Angeles.
The 16-episode third season of Into the Badlands is set to premiere in 2018 on AMC.
