USA’s ambitious new television series DIG premieres tonight (March 5) at 10PM on the cable network, and promises drama and mystery on an international scale. Major stars including Jason Isaacs and Anne Heche star in the series which comes from major TV talents Tim Kring and Gideon Raff (Heroes and Homeland, respectively).
The production itself was an international affair. Production took place in Jerusalem, Croatia, and, moving closer to home, Albuquerque, New Mexico, where some sets and locations were meticulously detailed to resemble other locations. In December, we were able to visit the Albuquerque sets of the series, where even Peter Connelly’s hotel room would be highly detailed. As the show is a bit of a murder mystery, audiences may want to look closely, because clues are everywhere.
To your right, you can find a photo of one of the show’s many sets that was created in Albuquerque. Unfortunately, our camera had no working flash so it was difficult to get a lot of good photography while there.
Although the first season is limited to ten episodes with a beginning, a middle, and an end, this project took several months to shoot, and some of the locations lend an authenticity to the storytelling. Gideon Raff himself directed a major portion of the show, so the look remains consistent throughout.
Beyond the international shooting of the show, DIG is a different kind of character drama than one is normally used to on USA, which in the past has focused on more quirky folks. DIG is very serious, but also very exciting, with movie-level quality on the screen and behind the camera. USA has gone all out to promote the show – we’ve seen the advertising in many places – so it’s a gamble, but hopefully a good one for the network.
Below, you can see our interview with Anne Heche where she talks about shooting multiple places and reveals more about her character, Lynn Monahan. After you’re done, be sure to browse KSiteTV for more content related to the show!
