Marvel has announced that Dexter alum Scott Buck will act as showrunner for upcoming ABC series Marvel’s The Inhumans.
Set to premiere a version of the first two episodes in IMAX commercial theaters this fall before making its television premiere, Marvel’s The Inhumans will begin exploring the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family in its eight episode first season. The series joins an impressive fleet of Marvel shows that includes Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Daredevil, and Agents of SHIELD, the latter being the only Marvel series on broadcast television following the cancellation of Agent Carter.
In addition to his time on the Showtime series, Buck’s credits include Six Feet Under, The Oblongs, Rome, Coach, and Nikki. He’s currently at work on the Netflix adaptation of Iron Fist, set for release in March 2017.
Marvel’s The Inhumans is set to air Tuesdays this fall on ABC. An exact premiere date and time will be announced sometime next year, though it seems likely that 8:00 can be ruled out because of ABC’s success with their new Tuesday comedy bloc. Whether the show airs at 9:00 or 10:00 depends on whether they want to break apart the four-comedy night and whether they want to use The Inhumans to launch something else or patch their ratings hole at 10:00.
Will you be watching The Inhumans? Do you think Scott Buck is the right choice for a show like this? Should the show air at 9:00 this fall, thereby dispatching the second comedy hour to another night, or simply sub in for Agents of SHIELD at 10:00?
