Though Tyler Perry signed an exclusivity deal with Viacom that will kick in a couple years from now, current home OWN is full steam ahead on maximizing Perry’s series while they’re still around. The network unveiled premiere dates for three Perry projects on Tuesdays, all of whom will air sometime in 2018.
Things kick off on Tuesday, January 9th at 9:00 with the season premiere of The Haves and the Have Nots, the No. 1 original series on all of cable for African-American women and 2017’s No. 1 original scripted cable series on for African-American total viewers. Season five picks up following the car crash that left the fates of Melissa and Veronica up in the air.
Wednesday, January 10th at 9:00 sees the fourth season of If Loving You is Wrong, the No. 2 original scripted cable series for African-American women and total viewers, returning after its midseason finale that will air tonight. In that episode, Marcie finds herself in great peril after Larry breaks her confidence, while Travis waits until the dead of night to go after Kelly.
A spinoff of Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, half-hour comedy The Paynes will make its series premiere Tuesday, January 16th at 10:00 with back-to-back episodes. The series follows Ella and Curtis as their blissful retirement hits a major stumbling block when a death in the family brings them to Florida and Curtis finds himself entangled in a real estate deal gone wrong. The Paynes also stars Jackeé Harry (227), Stephanie Charles (The Loonies), and Markice Moore (ATL).
The Haves and the Have Nots and If Loving You is Wrong are Perry’s only current scripted shows on OWN after Love Thy Neighbor and For Better or Worse recently concluded. Fellow Perry series Too Close to Home was also concluded after two seasons on TLC.
