AMC has released two featurettes focused on the upcoming third season of Humans, as well as photos from and the opening minutes of the premiere.

Season three of Humans finds the world one year into synths achieving full consciousness. As a result of Niska and Mattie’s decision to save Mia, hundreds of thousands of people died, mostly in accidents immediately upon the synth awakening, while the synths have become an endangered species across the world. Holed up in a commune a ways from the city, mostly for their own safety, the synths attempt to keep their population united and plot their next move in their relationship with humanity.

Elsewhere, a new line of subservient “Orange Eyed” synths are introduced to fill the vacancy left behind by the now infamous “Green Eyed” synths and the Hawkins family remains divided as to how to move forward after everything they’ve been through.

Joining the series this year are Holly Earl (Doctor Who) as Agnes, a synth untrustworthy of Mia and Max’s leadership; Ukweli Roach (Blindspot) as Anatole, a synth who believes that synths were always meant to be given consciousness; Mark Bonnar (Line of Duty) as charming scientist Dr. Neil Sommer, with whom Laura makes a connection; and Dino Fetscher (Banana) as Stanley, an “Orange Eyed” synth who comes into contact with Laura.

The third season of Humans premieres Tuesday at 10:00 on AMC.
