BET has released the trailer for season four of Hit the Floor and in it, we see a show in the middle of a major transition.
Already lacking confirmed absences Taylour Paige, Adam Senn, and Robert Christopher Riley, who played Ahsha, Zero, and Terrence, respectively, the trailer doesn’t feature any footage of Logan Browning’s Jelena, who is still reported to appear in the show’s fourth season. Though it’s good to have Hit the Floor back after yet another ridiculously long hiatus, it’s hard not to feel unease about the show’s newest incarnation given the precedent set by BET’s seasons of The Game and how the loss of arguably its two main characters in Ahsha and Jelena destabilizes the show’s narrative. Plus, with a summer 2016 (!) special that offered a lot in the way of closure, season four has its work cut out for it to not only validate its very existence but to not feel like a completely new show in the process.
In lieu of the exodus (or reduced role) of four series regulars from season three, Hit the Floor has added Teyana Taylor (The Breaks) as new Devil Girl London Scott; Tiffany Hines (Nikita) as Eve, a mysterious woman with unexpected ties to Devils Nation; Cort King (SEAL Team) as rookie Devil Pax, whose naivete makes him easy pickings for anyone with an agenda; Kyndall (Kicks) as ambitious new Devil Girl Jamie; and Kristian Kordula (The Haves and the Have Nots) as sideline reporter Noah.
Season four of Hit the Floor is set to premiere Tuesday, July 10th at 10:00 on BET.
