Hulu has set a Wednesday, July 11th premiere date for the upcoming second season of period drama Harlots, the network announced Monday.
From Alison Newman (EastEnders) and Moira Buffini (Viceroy’s House), Harlots follows Margaret Wells (Samantha Morton), a madam who runs a brothel in 1763 London and desires more for both herself and her two daughters. However, as Margaret tries to become upwardly mobile and move her brothel to a better part of town, she faces off with fellow madam Lydia Quigley (Lesley Manville), whose shared history with Margaret and desire to keep her choke hold over the men of London motivates her to thwart Margaret’s search for more.
Season two will feature the addition of Liv Tyler (The Leftovers) as Lady Isabella Fitzwilliam, an aristocratic social butterfly trapped in a loveless marriage who is being blackmailed by Lydia.
Harlots is part of a growing scripted slate for Hulu that includes The Handmaid’s Tale, The Path, Runaways, Future Man, Casual, and The Looming Tower.
