Abby and Barbara decided to break away from SheShe and launch their own website as a way to embrace a creative autonomy they previously didn’t have. The two wouldn’t have to worry about pleasing editors who didn’t quite understand what they did well, nor would they be forced to do things that didn’t further their brand or play into the reputation they’d created for themselves. Lady Parts would also allow them to talk to an underserved audience that is just itching for content, thereby providing them with a loyal target audience that is ripe for the taking. But as much as both Abby and Barbara want to build something that can break through in a cluttered marketplace and stand the test of time, they still have some disagreements about how they can go about securing their audience.

On the season premiere of Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, Abby and Barbara launch Lady Parts to disappointing numbers and find themselves scrambling to figure out a solution. However, the two can’t come to an agreement about anything, whether it be the influencers they can enlist to promote the site or behind the scenes professionals that can bring in to help them structure a plan of attack. The biggest hiccup, though, comes when Barbara wants to use Abby’s ex Will as an in with a Temple Hampton, a starlet they could pay to talk about the site on social media. Considering how desperate the two are to make this work, you’d think that they’d both be willing to do anything they have to in order to get Lady Parts off the ground; instead, Abby is too prideful to use her connection with Will and allows that to negatively impact her relationship with Barbara. While things with Will didn’t exactly end well, and Abby is in an uncomfortable place where she’s essentially starting all over despite her success, she’s never had to build something like Lady Parts from the ground up and the media landscape is such where anyone who enters into it has to go the extra mile if they want to stand out. But is Abby willing to come literally face-to-face with her past in an attempt to better her currently uncertain future?

Elsewhere on Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, Jo consummates her flirtation with Albert, while Phoebe becomes more entangled with Gemma and Delia’s time at Legal Aid begins with a stakeout with an abrasive new colleague.

The season premiere of Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce airs Thursday at 10:00 on Bravo. You can check out cast portraits from Girlfriends’ Guide season four here.

Can Abby and Barbara compromise enough to get Lady Parts off the ground? How long will it take before Jo figures out that Albert is Delia’s Albert? Will Phoebe becoming further wrapped up in Gemma push JD away?
