Deadline is reporting that FOX buddy comedy Ghosted has been given a six-episode extension, bringing its first season order to 16. The delay in granting the decently rated comedy, which has improved its time period over last year, additional episodes likely came down to the impending soft reboot, which will see Paul Lieberstein (The Office) stepping in as showrunner and a more grounded workplace comedy vibe.
Given the delay in announcing a back order and initial talk about Ghosted being limited, the back order itself is something of a surprise, but it’s deserved considering the show’s solid ratings and FOX’s scheduling needs. A decision coming in on Ghosted leaves ABC political comedy The Mayor as the sole fall freshman eligible for a back order that has yet to receive said extension or word that their 13-episode order is being capped.
Ghosted airs Sundays at 8:30 on FOX.
