The second part of January 15 is devoted to The CW, which has had a decent year with improved ratings, particularly on Tuesday where The Originals and Supernatural have really brought things back, giving The CW their best Tuesdays in five years. Continuing hits like The Vampire Diaries and Arrow have also kept the network alive. A Veronica Mars digital spin-off series has just also been announced for CW Seed.
To start the event, CW Entertainment President Mark Pedowitz made a presentation to the audience, with the following highlights:
– Pedowitz has been talking to Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas about this VM spin-off for CW Seed. As mentioned before, no details are known yet, though it “may not appear before the movie.” Thomas is also working on the iZombie pilot.
– Beauty and the Beast may be off the schedule in March, but it will come back at the end of May, and a decision on Season 3 will be made in May as well.
– Pedowitz says that they go for high-concept, fantasy, serialized drama, which is what works well for them. “The audience is not coming to us for a normal, typical procedural.”
– Pedowitz wanted to make The Flash as a separate pilot so it could have a big launch like Arrow had. An Hourman script is not yet in. The FOX Gotham project will be in a “separate universe” from Arrow.
– Mark Pedowitz has not yet read the Dorothy Must Die script.
– Pedowitz says that Supernatural “can go as long as it wants,” especially if the numbers hold.
– Breaking Pointe will not be back.
And now it’s panel time…
The 100
The first panel is for The 100, about some “juvenile delinquents” sent to a possibly irradiated Earth as their space station is overcrowding. The show premieres March 19, 2014. On the panel were actors Marie Avgeropoulos, Bob Morley, Eliza Taylor, Isaiah Washington, and Henry Ian Cusick, with Executive Producer Jason Rothenberg.
Rothenberg is a big fan of “Lord of the Flies” so any similarity may be “by design.” Any character could go at any time.
The “high stakes” interested Henry Ian Cusick in the project. The “strong character” is what lured Isaiah Washington. A big question posed by the show asks what kind of society these young people are going to build on Earth.
Star-Crossed
Star-Crossed was next, and Aimee Teegarden was their pick for Emery from the start. The series, which also features Matt Lanter and Grey Damon, is very much on the sci-fi side, as the alien Atrians are integrated into a world that might be hostile to them.
Look for interviews with series stars Matt Lanter and Grey Damon here on KSiteTV soon.

So we have to wait 2 months for the BATB season to resume? Yeah, that’ll be helpful….
At least they haven’t ruled out a Season 3 for Beauty And The Beast. We’ll just have to keep the faith and work hard.
If the last episode before the 2-month break is an unbelievable VinCat moment, then we will need to keep campaigning, e-mailing, trending, and most importantly, recruiting viewers and encouraging sponsors our numbers will show increased improvement to solidify a Season 3! We need to include sponsors in our hard work to show we are supporting and buying their products!
I was so much hoping our double PCA wins would give us the boost we need to generate more support from TPTB BUT looks like we will have to keep on fighting the good fight Beasties ~ THIS statement still gives me HOPE though and I’m running with it ~ “Beauty and the Beast may be off the schedule in March, but it will come back at the end of May, and a decision on Season 3 will be made in May as well.” We have a fighting chance so don’t waste it. AMERICAN fans ~ PLEASE work harder to get everyone you know to start watching BatB. Our RATINGS need to start flying. It is very frustrating that our international support only counts for so much.
beauty and the beast, best show on the cw in my opinion
Feeling extremely doubtful Beauty and the Beast season 3 will take place. Networks go by demo ratings. Am surprised 19-39ers have not been enthralled by the show. Am over 60. Don’t easily buy into TV, but this one has hooked me. Not a vapid, silly sitcom. Probably action element isn’t enough for the viewers. Meat of program is relationship between Cat,Vincent. Americans, unlike Europeans, not into relationship gigs. Just blood,explosions-The usual, common place crap. Sorry show is DOA.
