Apple has released the first teaser for its upcoming Isaac Asimov adaptation Foundation.
Based on the Asimov novel series of the same name, with David S. Goyer (Da Vinci’s Demons) and Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) developing for television and Goyer acting as showrunner, Foundation chronicles a band of exiles on their monumental journey to save humanity and rebuild civilization amid the fall of the Galactic Empire.
The series stars Jared Harris (Mad Men) as mathematician and psychologist Hari Seldon, who’s developed a new field of science and psychology called psychohistory; Lee Pace (Halt and Catch Fire) as Brother Day; Lou Llobell (The Voyagers) as Gaal Dornick, a young mathematician invited by Seldon to join his psychohistory project; Leah Harvey (Les Miserables) as shrewd, manipulative politician Salvor Hardin; Laura Birn (The Innocents) as Demerzel, Chief of Staff to empire ruler Cleon I; Terrence Mann (Critters) as Brother Dusk; and Cassian Bilton (The Devil’s Harmony) as Brother Dawn.
It joins a scripted slate for the streaming newbie that includes The Morning Show, Dickinson, For All Mankind, See, Servant, Truth Be Told, Home Before Dark, Trying, Little America, and Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet.
Will you be watching? If you’ve read the novels, do you think this looks like a faithful enough adaptation? Is this the type of show you’d like to see more of from Apple?
