it was good to see a character we haven't seen in a while, but i feel like this episode could have done fine without her. it wasn't really necessary.

It was great seeing her again. It is showing one more Smallville person that is alive rather than dead in the AU when Kal-El didn't come to Earth. But, their sacrifice is serving the greater good because he did come and will save Earth.
