Funny when people say 'American' Accent they are talking about the west coast accent.... Hollywood would lead most people to believe we all talk like West Coasters.


I am a west coaster, so I do have the hollywood accent, but it would be pretty entertaining to watch someone from England try to pull off a Maine accent vs a Louisianna and just because people say 'south' doesnt mean all people in the south speak the same. Louisianna is a far cry from Tennesee.

By the same token though, there are many varieties of "British" accents - Michelle's natural one is certainly nothing like the accent in the area where I live (my own accent isn't quite local - having spent my first 6 years near the Welsh border I have a slight Welsh inflection that occasionally strangers pick up on). So please don't take offence about a West Coast accent being lumped in with all "American" accents - over here, they all sound as similar to us as ours do to yours.
