Sam - "Did I miss anything??"
Dean - *POW* punches Sam in the face, for all the times that Demon!Sam just got done hitting him

Damn, I admit it, I was totally hooked.

I for sure knew Sam was gonna be possessed till the end, so I knew he wasn't really himself when he went to see Jo. But I took the bait, hook-line & sinker. I really, really, realllly thought they were gonna have Demon!Sam kill Jo off. But then after he attacked her, I started thinking rape - which in some ways would have been worse than just killing her - or rape, then murder.

And the reason I was so "OMG!" about it was because imagine how much the storyline with Ellen & the boys changes if Sam, even if not himself, kills her daughter (maybe even raped first)? And not only that, but she blames John for the death of her husband to begin with.

Which brings me to.... did "Meg" lie to Jo or did John really put Bill out of his misery, while he was begging to see Ellen/Jo one last time?? I just can not see John doing that. John may have put a bullet in his brain, to end Bill's misery, but Bill would have begged for it first. I think that was an all out lie, or at least said to make Jo hate Sam & Dean because of their dad - "Meg" told her the untruth to try and turn Jo/Ellen against our two heros.

So right now, the demons are just testing the boys. Testing Dean's loyalty to Sam and how easy or hard its going to be to turn Sam into "what he's destined to be".

Also, was "Meg" sent back to Hell or just escaped? It first looked like the black cloud was headed toward the seal and back to Hell, but since she broke it, it instead went up, and out, the fireplace chimney. Dammit, why'd they have to kill off the lady playing her originally, I really miss her alot, even if she was evil (while the main!demon's daughter possessed her).

Also... so not only are the boys 'hiding' from the feds, Gordon and his crew, but now the deceased guy's buddies that "Sam" killed tonight. Damn. Talk about "America's Most Wanted"!!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that was one of my Top 5 eppys of SPN. Easily.

    Dean - *chuckles*
    Sam - "What?"
    Dean - "Nuthin."
    Sam - "Dean. What!?"
Dean - "Dude, you had a girl (demon?) all up inside you for like a week. That's pretty dirty!"
    Sam - *smirks and smiles*

This episode was really great! I knew that Sam was possessed, but rather than feel like the episode was predictable, I felt so excited by the fact that I was right! Wow, that feeling is so refreshing! (That's not to knock down my show...I LOVE Smallville, always and forever).

      - I too noticed that Dean received a very "Jason-esque" bullet wound, but I preferred this scene to the former. Supernatural is just the show for Jensen. He shines week to week; I love that! Speaking of shiny performances, I also enjoyed evil Sam...for a moment I thought, 'am I crazy for thinking his violent behavior is "attractive"?' I don't know if I can answer that, but I can say that Jared did an amazing job. I'd certainly like to see less of the "poor me", "kill me" attitude, and something more of "you know what, I'm going to beat this demon...Dean will help me"- type of vibe. I'm confident it will come with time.

Well, that's enough rambling for me. It's late, and my post probably made no sense...I guess SN has that effect on me. LoL

I feel the episode was predictable until dean and bobby tried to exorcise the demon and then it wouldnt budge..Very exciting!

I agree, Jensen does do a wonderful job week in and week out. Hes really come a long way since Jason..eck! Thought towards the end evil jason was pretty cool. And you are not the only one you enjoyed evil Sam I would like to see less of poor me Sammy as well..I think he will eventually be like "im going to kill this motherf*ucker" but Dean will definatly be there to help him out.

Lol, my favorite line was :

          Dean - *chuckles*
          Sam - "What?"
          Dean - "Nuthin."
          Sam - "Dean. What!?"
Dean - "Dude, you had a girl (demon?) all up inside you for like a week. That's pretty dirty!"
          Sam - *smirks and smiles*

          I completely died of laughter!!

Meg just doesnt understand the devils trap thing because this is the second time she was in it, and the second time theat she was expelled from a body in Bobby's house.

i think thats why the demon/meg put the devils lock on sam so even if it was trapped in something there was no way they can release the demon plus it also broke the trap symbol to escape. i dont think it was that worried about getting caught twice.

this episode really made me want to see wwhat hell is really like in the show. hopefully we get to see john back in hell to see what all these demons are talking about.

Awsome epicode, was so freakin' AWSOME! even though i had read the spoilers, i still was shocked with the demon being in him the whole time. Wow, Jared really does evil well doesn't he? i kept laughing at bad moments thinking about how much fun he must be having playing the bad guy(er..girl?)

I have to admit, i kinda liked Jo in this epicode. i dont know why, i just liked her more then in others. weird.

anway, great epicode, hope to see more like it.

You know, the more I think about it, the more this makes me laugh. I can't believe that Dean knows who Justin Timberlake is, but thought that MySpace was a porn site. How is that possible? Did Sam finally get him to replace his old tapes? LoL

--Is it just me, or did anyone else find that funny?

---> Also, I agree with you Chlarkerlover, Jo wasn't that bad this time around, and I too hope to see more great episodes like this in the future. Supernatural never ceases to amaze, so I'm sure we will.

                    This was an excellent episode!

Dean being frantic that Sam is gone. The reference to it being "just like looking for Dad again". (nice!) His concern when Sam calls.
When Dean sees the blood on Sam's shirt and panics. (and I mean, panics. That's the first time I've ever seen Dean act like that. very cool.)

When they get to the hunters house and watch the tape. Sam's expression as he reads the letter from the hunters daughter was good. But Dean's asking for Sam to help him erase the tape and when Sam goes catatonic....
Everyone is talking about how good Jared was, how powerful his acting was, and I agree. But I think the best and most well acted moment of the whole episode was when Jensen (Dean) smashes the computer to destroy the evidence. It made me shiver in it's intesity. And reminded me of Devil's Trap (actually the whole episode kinda did, I wonder if they did that on purpose because of the return of Meg?) where he says that line about how he'll do anything for Sam and his Dad.

The whole of the scene back at the hotel, where Sam begs Dean to kill him. "I can't. I'd rather die." Oh the ache! And then the shock of Sam cold cocking him!

The stuff with Jo was (mercifully) short. I was shocked to see her return but glad it was only for a glorified cameo. But once again Jared was on fire (no pun intended) in those scenes.
How totally creepy was it when he had Jo in a headlock and was practically drooling on her? Anyone else wonder if he was going to rape her? (not that they would have gotten that past the sensors but...) it seemed it was going in that direction.

Then Dean showing up and their battle in the garage. That was ok.

Dean and Jo's moment was nice. "You won't call." At least Jo gets that.

The shock I felt that Sam ended up at Bobby's and then back under the Devil's Trap was minimal as I'd seen spoilery pics but the discovery that Sam was possessed by Meg was a huge surprise!
And Meg speaking the Latin and the ceililng cracking was awesome! You can never go wrong with Jared doing Latin.

Dean's punch to Sam and his final line were both cute as well.

But one thing bothered me about all this:
why didn't Dean use "Christo"? I mean, when they were talking about the murder of the hunter and he was throwing out ideas "shapeshifter", why didn't he think of the idea that Sam could have been possessed? WHy didn't he run the EMF over Sam (not just for demonic possession but ghostly or whatever too)?
ANd when he threw the holy water on Sam, Christo would have worked just as well.

I'm sorry but if you're a hunter and someone starts acting like they are a totally different person I would think you're first instinct would be to say "christo!"

                    But maybe that's just me.
(but we haven't seen nor heard 'christo' since Phantom Traveller. Did Kripke forget about it?)

and whew! Sorry about another long one gang but I guess I had a lot to say about this one!

                      ok..... OOOOOOOMMMMMMMFFFFFFFFFFGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.
(just to say this before i start screaming as im typing, i can't say the above about smallville anymore.. a fellow loyalist here )

                      OMGGGGGG.

I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH.

here's the one negative thing about this episode. it was a demon possessing sam instead of sam actually being himself. the title of this episode TOTALLY throws u off.

                      OK.

Welling_is_pretty, i agree with everything u say!!! but in my own words...

the beginning. the reference to him looking for dad was great. then when he got to sammy and he saw the blood he freaked out, which was great acting for jensen by the way.

then when sam wanted dean to shoot him and dean couldn't. i knew he couldn't. "i'd rather die." exactly what i thought he would say, and he said it so awesome, it was amazing. i was a little disturbed about sam being mucho emo, but then when i saw that it was a trap i felt better. i know that sounds wrong but if that was really sammy then it would be so emo for him to try and commit suicide.

i love the whole justin timberlake thing i wonder where dean comes up with these random stories ?

then. even though there are plenty other hunters out there, he coincidently goes to jo. it was good to have jo back, and i hope to see more of her, especially if she starts to turn and ends up being the "connection" gordon has.

jared played the ultimate evil guy (besides michael rosenbaum.) the way he taunted jo (my daddy shot your daddy in the head !)

then dean came and once again couldn't shoot sammy, even though he was still desperately begging him to.

it was also nice to see bobby back, i really hope to see more of him!!

the whole exorcism scene was another AWESOME view of jared being evil. that laugh... OMG. i played it over and over again, that's how scary it was. and of course they hadda bring up the plan, but it's nice to know how not all demons are after them for the same reason.

i shoulda known meg's demon was gonna come back to get dean. i couldnt watch when sam was punching dean and putting pressure on his bullet wound. i was hysterical crying (the first time i watched it at least, now all these times i've learned to turn my head.) i don't know why, but whenever dean's in pain, i can't take it. lol im a little over obsessed with jensen

then when dean gave sam that punch, i laughed so hard. he gave all he had left into that punch haha.

bobby gave them those 2 charms, and his face... it got me wondering if bobby was possessed and those charms were really to attract demons?

anyway, this was an AWESOME EPISODE ! i apologize for making it so long

                        Wow.

This was an extremely good episode. Not only the best episode of S2, but one of the best overall eps of the show in my opinion. Granted I would have liked to have seen how and when Sam was possesed. But it was a great episode. I really liked getting to see Jared Padeleki play a different type of character. He was actually quite convincing in the role. Nice little plot twist with the binding scar to stay in Sam's body. I agree that the scene when they were in the hunter's house was a good one. I see that they keep trying to throw us the idea of Jo and Dean getting together. I don't know how I feel about it. On paper it makes sense because of their backgrounds and lifestyles. But it still kind of seems forced to me. Maybe if they let us get to know the character a bit better and had her around more, I might be more open to it. But she is barely shown.

A few of my favorite scenes :

                        - The scene with Bobby and possessed Sam. "Don't try to con a con man". The holy water in the beer bit was awesome. Reminded me of the Buffy episode "Helpless" when she spikes the vamp's water.

                        - When demon Sam laid about Dean. "No Dean, you're gonna live". Pauses to pick up the gun like it will be suicide.. "You're gonna live to regret this" and just lays him out. That was a great scene.

                        Best quote :

"Dude you had a girl inside you for a whole weak. That's a little dirty"... LOL Jensen Ackles has really great comedic timing.

So as a whole this was definately my favorite episode of the season, and one of my favorite eps overall. It was just extremely good.

funny thing. That scene reminded me so hard of Meg's that I almost got deja vu. Then to find out that Sam WAS Meg?! Thinking back I think Jared even managed to incorporate little mannerisms that Nikki used in the role. When Sam was tied to that chair his body was held in the same way/sort of stance or whatever that Meg held hers. I wonder if Jared didn't go back and watch a couple of Nikki's episodes to get 'her' down right.

Except I remember Meg using the 'baby' line several times but she doesn't in this epi. Maybe it's because this time she's playing hardball.

What I love though is that whether or not the boys realize it they've managed to strike a blow against the YED. It's daughter is back and ready to kill but no longer serves it. It's lost one of it's best and strongest allies.
It might not be as good as taking Meg out for good but it's a start.

So she was sent back to Hell?

I took that scene - where the black cloud started to go towards the marker on the ceiling, but then went out of the fireplace chimney - as she would have went back to Hell, but since she had locked herself in Sam's "meat suit", and started chanting that stuff, the ceiling and marking cracked, thus breaking it and rendering it useless.

Has it been determined she was sent back to Hell?

She may just be floating around looking for another host body. either that or she went back to hell. She wasnt summoned back to hell tho so it would have been her choice to go back or not.

when she was in meg and got exorsisied(sp?), then she was sent back to hell by the trap, but this time she(he, it, w/e) just left.
