  • Spoiler Forum Rules - UPDATED

Please take the time to read through this post before posting in the spoiler & speculation forum!

    IMPORTANT RULES

    - Spoilers MUST be marked as a spoiler in the thread title. For example: "Peter's Powers - Spoiler"
    - Speculation does not need to be marked as a spoiler in the thread title UNLESS the speculation is based on spoilers.

    What's a spoiler?

A spoiler is information that spoils the ending to a film, television episode, book, or comics for people. In fandom, most people consider a "spoiler" to be any revelation of a fact about something they haven't seen or read yet.

    A SPOILER IS...
    - A confirmed detail about an upcoming episode.
    - ANY information about an episode that has not yet aired in the US.
    - ANY information about an episode that has aired within a week of its original airdate (see Kryptonsite Rules regarding One Week Rule). For example, since Heroes episodes air on a Monday, you cannot post about it in anything but the episode thread dedicated to that episode until the following Monday. These discussions belong in the Episode Forums ONLY, to keep Canadian viewers or folks who are catching it on a weekend rerun or TiVOed or taped it or whatever. No exceptions.
    - Spoilers for unaired episodes belong in the spoiler & speculation forum ONLY. Spoilers are not allowed outside of the spoiler forum in any way, shape or form -- this includes spoilers marked by spoiler space. Spoiler threads in the forum should be marked with the "... - SPOILER" at the end of the thread.
    - TV Guide-style episode summaries are considered spoilers, no matter what the source. Do not post them at any time until the episode airs in any thread outside the spoiler forum.
    - Casting information is a spoiler, so please don't announce how many episodes a certain character is signed for, or who will be playing what part, anywhere but in the Spoiler threads.
    - Episode titles are ALWAYS spoilers.
    - Media rumors count as spoilers. This includes rumors you may have read on various web sites or message boards. You should say WHERE you heard this rumor so that people don't think you're totally making things up. Made up rumors will count as trolling.
-Also, just because you think the spoiler you just posted is "common knowledge" does not mean it's not a spoiler. It is!
-Speculation based on a spoiler is still considered a spoiler and must be designated as a spoiler.

    A SPOILER IS *NOT*:
    - Information about past or present storylines.
    - Your personal fantasies about the show that are not in any way based on any current spoilers. WISHFUL THINKING IS NOT A SPOILER. These types of threads that are not based on spoilers in any way, shape or form are considered Speculation and Theories and should be designated as such in the thread.
    - Blind analysis is not a spoiler, meaning that your extremely meaningful and concise analysis on the nature of any topic are NOT appropriate for this forum unless they're directly based on spoilers or relate to speculation about an upcoming plot line. Spoilers are about what WILL happen as per a reliable source in the media, whether it be a web site, an actor or producer interview, a statement at a convention by a writer, and so forth.
    - Information about episodes that aired in the US/Canada more than one week earlier do not count as spoilers.
    - Funny rumors, or rather, fake rumors that you find humorous, are most definitely NOT spoilers. (They actually don't belong anywhere, but ESPECIALLY not in the Spoiler forum.)

    What is Speculation?

Speculation is contemplation or consideration on an upcomming episode, plot, ship, character development, etc. It is a conclusion, opinion, or theory reached by conjecture.

    A FEW FINAL GUIDELINES:
    - Please SEARCH FOR EXISTING THREADS before posting new ones.
    - Try to find other threads to post in before making new ones. If a spoiler's been out for a while, and it's huge, I GUARANTEE that there's a thread on it somewhere.
    - Give your thread a good, descriptive subject. People shouldn't have to guess what it's about.

Please be sure to ask in this thread if there is something you're unclear about. Hopefully this'll make the spoiler forum more meaningful and user friendly. =)
