Some good cliffhangers to end the season. Even though it is probably the weakest of the finales, it’s still a good episode. 8/10

I felt bad for Chloe, too. She was so looking forward to a special night with Clark and they did look good together. But to blame Lana for interrupting it is ridiculous. Clark made the decision to rush out and save the day, and since he will eventually become Earth's greatest protector, did we expect anything less?

I liked how atmospheric the storm coming was. And the cliffhangers were great re:Lex and re:Nixon!

An excellent finale for the first season. A lot of stakes are introduced in the episode. Let's ignore the remaining nine seasons for a second and look at this episode on its own.

Lionel announces that the LuthorCorp plant will shut down, which will means that half the people in Smallville will be out of a job (and affect the rest of the town financially). Because of this, Chloe and her dad might have to move back to Metropolis. So, she might not come back for season 2. With financial problems hoovering over the town, the Kents (who already had financial problems) might end up loosing the farm. Roger Nixon uncovers the truth about Clark. Clark's spaceship activates and opens in front of Martha (giving us the possibility of a game changer for the second season). Trying to save the plant, Lex is attempting an employee buyout (potentially leading to him setting up his own corporation). Lex might also be forced to move back to Metropolis (so, he might leave the show, in the second season). Meanwhile, a tornado hits town, putting both Lionel and Lana in mortal danger. The stakes aren't just about Clark taking down a bad guy. Sure, he rushed into a tornado, in an attempt to save Lana (which is something he'll likely manage to do), but Clark and the world around him are now facing problems, that can't be fixed by him simply using his powers. Clark (who admited to being afraid of being left alone in "Hourglass") might have to say goodbye to one of his best friends and Lex (if he's forced to leave town). Furthermore, now a bad man knows his secret. The whole town is facing the danger of massunemployment and financial hardship. Lana getting sucked into a tornado is the least of the problems.

Felt bad for Chloe at the dance. She had previously expressed a fear, that Clark would instantly run off to Lana and he ended up doing just that. Though, for completely justified reasons. What was he supposed to do? Let a person die, just because he was at a dance with another girl?
