I have not seen the TV pilot, but I loved the comic. I interviewed Warren Ellis recently, and I asked him about the show... I have also discussed the show with the possible show runner (if it went to series)...
and, y'know it might actually not be 'dead dead'.

Yes, it is wounded, and bleeding out, but it is still alive...
