Did a double feature: Easy Rider (1969) and Hello, Dolly (1969). Both released the same year, but they couldn't be more different. The former is a film depicting contemporary America and people, and real locations. The latter takes place in a fantasy of 1890... where everything is an obvious set. Sadly, I watched Hello, Dolly first. Would've been interesting to go from a film like Easy Rider to Hello, Dolly. Would the latter have looked even more fake?

Easy Rider was a low-budget movie, that became a box office hit. Helping to bring about the New Hollywood era. Hello, Dolly was a big budget production, that flopped so bad that they couldn't even afford to take down the sets. One of its sets was re-used for the 1970 film Beneath the Planet of the Apes. When people discuss films of this era, Easy Rider is brought up as one of the landmark films. Hello, Dolly is brought up as an example of the old guard not knowing what they were doing.

Sahara (1943). Watching a movie, set in a desert, during a heatwave... is really immersive.

Shang-Chi & The Legend of the Ten Rings - It was a great martial arts film. It’s also a great standalone film that one doesn’t have to be an MCU fan to enjoy. I don’t know where they’ll go with it after that ending (I mean there’s a vague direction they can go in with the 2 post credit scenes) but this is a character/story that could go anywhere.

    Heading to see it again!😁
