Ah, another murderer/kidnapper given a full redemption story and pardon in the Arrowverse. Apparently she didn't make any offensive tweets, or she might have been in serious trouble.

Right! And how did she get defeated?...they had a quick conversation and she goes back to the mirror-verse with her “children”. She should have been a villain-of-the-week. The entire season was way too long for this storyline (obviously this was the true S6 finale). I’m glad it’s finally over!
I was willing to give the first 3 episodes a pass because they were wrapping up season 6, but some of the writing of this episode was inexcusably sloppy.
For starters, Eva's redemption was abrupt, forced and ridiculous. A sweet speech from Barry and Iris was all it took to make her stop wreaking havoc? And then they just let her get away by wishing her all the best! A murderer! Why? Because she's a woman and she killed a bad white guy in cold blood? Yeah, nice message there, show.
The arc of Barry regaining his speed suddenly became a WestAllen prop. Don't get me wrong, I prefer the Speed Force over the ASF, but they could have gone about it in a better way. Or just have him keep his speed after Nash sacrificed himself. And are we meant to believe Iris had risisual speed force in her all these years?
Ralph. Dear oh dear... Why did they even do this? No one would blame the show for not bringing the character back and they already gave us a fine explanation for his absence. Even after Sue's name was cleared. But the sights of him melting and then being in that mask were while someone faked Hartley Sawyer's voice were just silly. I was on the fence about Ralph being recast but on this evidence I hope he isn't. Even if it means Sue doesn't return.
When did this show stop setting up things? Last week Frost used Velocity X to gain speed. Out of the blue. This week Cisco showed up in battle with his Vibe gear even though he quit being a superhero last season. With zero explanation.
But my biggest disappointment: The Wells stuff, which I was looking forward to the most. The explanation for his appearance was kind of outlandish, even by this show's standards. But I guess had to carry the other Wellses' memories so that we could skip all the introductions and have him work with Cisco and co as if he knew them for years before leaving after 1 episode. WTF? Looks like Tom Cavanagh is on a similar contract to Carlos Valdez's and he will be coming and going every 3-4 episodes. At some point while Barry was getting his speed the camera focused on Wells taking off his glasses and putting them on again. I couldn't figure out if that was a hint or just poor directing. Given the rest of the episode, probably the latter...
Haven't seen Carlos this disinterested in his performance. Even when he was shooting a scene with Tom. Sometimes you just can't work with what you are given.
The cliffhanger does have me curious about what it means. The obvious explanation is more speedsters, but we'll see. Maybe it's tied to the Reverse Flash or Godspeed's return.
3/10. Next week is basically the start of season 7. They need to do a lot better than this.
The episode started out okay but got more and more cheesy, especially when Barry was grinning like an idiot while getting his speed back. The Eva thing was very anticlimactic.
They could have had Iris as a source of strength without being so heavy handed about it and without her literally giving his speed back to him.
I agree that the Ralph stuff was so unnecessary. Yes, the Wells stuff was flimsy at best and was disappointing.
Yeah, it actually reminds me of the Speed Force storms that created Godspeed and other speedsters in Flash Rebirth. So I suspect new Speedsters as well.
I wonder if we will ever get Bart. Given that he is Iris and Barry’s grandson and his mother is Meloni Thawne in the comics, it would be interesting (if handled well) to have him show up. Or they could just bring in Kyle Gallner, with his Impulse back from the dead...but that might confuse people...but it could also prove that the Multiverse is alive and well
I liked this episode very much, and didn't see a lot of conflict between the various story elements. I missed out on Season 6 completely, so that may be why I'm more open-minded about the current state of the show. But all told, I've enjoyed what I'm seeing in Season 7 so far. My only hope is that Tom Cavanagh comes back for more episodes; the show just isn't the same without him.

Apparently they wanted to be literal about the "you are my lightning rod" bit.

I wonder what was the motivation behind this. They want to keep Ralph around but they haven't found a new actor yet? I don't think they will bring back Sawyer after the controversy blows over because the showrunner was adamant about making an example out of him.
I mentioned this a while back, but I really hope they won't have Tom Cavanagh play Ralph going forward. It would make sense given Ralph's powers, but it would be a waste of Tom's talents.

I didn't understand the rush at all. Normally, even with Nash last season, you have the new Wells get introduced to the team, butt heads with them and slowly get to know them. Which might take 2-3 episodes. Here they completely skipped those steps and then they had him leave at the end of the episode. I won't even get into the whole "Timeless Wells" thing and how silly it sounded.
Tom Cavanagh will still be around this season. He's a regular. But I am not sure if they have any decent ideas left. E1 Harrison Wells was it and they missed the mark.

I read a theory yesterday that they might be looking to do a comic book storyline called "Flash War". It's an arc where Wally released 3 new cosmic forces called Sage Force, Strength Force and Still Force. I admit it would sound intriguing, especially if we got old villains like RF and Godspeed getting these powers.

Man, there was a golden chace to do that last year. Especially during Crisis when they were visiting other Earths and other shows. Just like with The Flash from the 1990 series, they could have had Impulse from Smallville do a cameo. Now it's more tricky because the multiverse (in that manner) is gone and dopplegangers can't live on Earth Prime. The best way to go about it would be to have Kyle Gallner play Bart Allen from the future. Which is his storyline anyway.
Bart Allen could also be their backup plan in case Grant Gustin doesn't return next season. Either he or Wally would become the new lead character.

He definitely will. The showrunner said he will have a lot to do this season. Maybe as the Reverse Flash again, who knows...
Oh, don't remind me, lol. It's all in the eye of the beholder obviously, but I don't treat the scene with Clark and Lois in last year's crossover as part of Smallville canon. For all we know, they were Clark and Lois from another Earth who just happened to look like Welling and Durance.
The Smallville comic was a very decent continuation to the series and I have no problem treating that as canon. At least Bryan Q Miller cared about honoring the show he was piggybacking on. And its Crisis storyline was actually very good.

Yeah, the only thing that makes sense is that they thought someone was playing a trick on them because a Crisis happened from their perspective 7 years prior. Also, Clark where he was at in Season 10 and 11 is not the same Clark as Season 7. He must have lost his powers due to something other than personal choice.
Anyways, I do hope that that the Flash finds a way to bring Bart in and do it well. I wonder if they will figure out that the multiverse is still a thing.
Also, hope that Season 7 has more positives than negatives.
