Font Originally Used For "Smallville" Logo?

First off, allow me to be clear; I am not talking about the "fan font" based on the logo, that's been online since 2003. You can easily find copies of that all over the Internet. What I'd like to know is whether the designers of the show's logo originally based it on any pre-existing typeface, and if so, which one. I'm trying to do a more consistent version of this, with solid letters since the "damaged" effects don't match.

I know Agency FB was used for the actor credits for Seasons 1-4, but I'm not sure the cracked logo was used from any particular/real font.

Thanks, Craig; I appreciate it. I'm trying to make my own autograph cards, but never liked a lot of the official designs. The curved names are a nice callback to the official logo, though.
