X-Men fans will have to wait just a little while longer to see Channing Tatum's take on the Ragin' Cajun. Following an earlier announcement from Fox that "Gambit" had lost it's initial October 2016 release date, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that production on the film has been delayed due to rewrites.


"Gambit" was supposed to begin production in the first quarter of 2016, but sources have informed THR that the film is now expected to begin production at the end of 2016. "Gambit" is undergoing rewrites from Tatum's producing partner and "Magic Mike" and "Magic Mike XXL" screenwriter Reid Carolin.

Producer Lauren Shuler Donner insists that Gambit is still happening with Channing Tatum still attached but, no director nor release date as of yet.

I’ll believe it when I see it but...

20th Century Fox has set the release date of the film for: February 14, 2019 (aka Valentines Day 2019)

Which means they have to start production early next year in order to hit that date. Again, I’m skeptical that they’ll make the date.

I guess it’s still happening cause...Gambit is moving from next summer’s June 7th date to March 13, 2020.
