The Gifted - Original KSiteTV X-Men Series Thread

Okay, just read on Newsarama, that Fox might be expanding their X-Men/FF to television. Writer/producer Simon Kinberg had this to say:

“We’re still in this place of figuring out what the future of the franchise will be, but when you look at [Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.] to some extent and what Marvel is doing now with Daredevil and other shows on Netflix, it makes sense to tell some of these stories in TV partly because there’s just not enough screens to do all of these characters,” Kinberg told Collider. “And also because the serialized format of comic books is better suited for TV. Because that’s it, every week you come back to the same characters different story, and in comic books every week it’s the same characters, different story.
My guess is, they'll have such a show focus on one character (for budget reasons). I have suggested Nate Grey, in the past. His powers (especially telepathy) wouldn't be very expensive to pull off on TV. Though, the problem there, is that you'd need him to constantly run into villains, that are immune to his power. Otherwise, you end up in a senario, where every problem could easily be solved, with him just controlling their minds.

Guess Rogue would be a candidate. You'd have an established film character, head to TV (kinda like Phil Coulson). And you'd be able to explore much more, with the character. In the comics, she has had to tackle with multiple personalities (when an absorbed mind gets stuck in her head) and even had her body taken over (when the absorbed mind, is too strong for her). They also had her gained the ability to recall powers, that she had absorbed in the past. A TV show could have that be a side effect of the cure. It eventually wore off, but then she started to briefly manifest powers, of those she had absorbed. Only one at a time and she can't fully control it (preventing the character, from becoming too powerful and add tension, as might not always manifest the power she needs at that time. If she'd be poisoned, she could die, unless her body manifest Wolverine's healing factor, in time).

I've seen a couple of fan trailers, on Youtube, for an X-23 series. It would be interesting, to explore that character on TV.

    Any other suitable candidates?

Whoever they give the show to, it should be taken over by Apocalypse who is tired of waiting for the movies to get around to him so he's decided to take matters into his own hands by grabbing the TV show and using it to make so much noise that the next movie has no choice but to star him.

Can't tell if you're joking or am being serious. It's quite possible you haven't heard, that they will use Apocalypse, in the next X-Men movie.

Shawn Madden is tweeting that he too has heard about the X-Men TV series and that it specifically is based on Peter David's X-Factor. Says Madden, "The X-Factor series will definitely feature Jamie Madrox and be sort of like 'Fringe in the X-Men world.'"

We should note that none of this is confirmed by 20th Century Fox, as yet, though it seems likely something is going on with a potential X-Men TV project at this point.

    From CBR:

In a move sure to shake up the superhero TV landscape, executives from Fox have confirmed that they're exploring an "X-Men" TV show.

TV Insider has the scoop, quoting chairmen Gary Newman and Dana Walden on their plans for a mutant-based show. "It's in negotiations," Newman said. "We're cautiously optimistic, we had a good meeting with them. That will not be on a fast track creatively. This is just the deal, now we have to find the creative."

As the deal is being worked out with the 20th Century Fox movie studio who owns the rights to the Marvel characters, there is no specific talent attached to the series, and it's unlikely that a show would be ready before the 2016 - 2017 season.

The news follows Fox's strong debut season for the comic book-based Gotham, which was just picked up for a second season, and historically marks the third time the network has featured the X-Men characters after the beloved '90s animated series and the less well remembered "Generation X" TV pilot movie.

However the series will fit into the X-Men movie franchise is completely unknown, but until the plans are worked out, fans have plenty of X-Action to keep them busy with "X-Men: Apocalypse," "Deadpool" and "Gambit" in the offing between now and then.

The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Many Coto and Evan Katz from "24" will be producing the show while the original writers from "Star Trek 3": Patrick McKay and JD Payne will be the writers.

Jamie Chung has been cast as Blink.

Fan Bingbing played her in X-Men Days of Future Past.

Could Sam be a placeholder name for one of the Proudstar brothers? Did a quick search for a Native American Marvel/X-Men character, named "Sam" and came up empty. So, it's either a placeholder name or he's an original character.
