  • The big difference between dying and never being born.

Has anyone ever wondered why Dean was okay with trying John and Mary dying in the episode where Michael possessed Young John but totally did a 180 on Henry when he tried to do practically the same thing?

Was it because of the knowledge of being able to close the gates of hell? Was it just a writers oversight? Or do you think Dean had finally thought he accomplished too much to go back?

Just a thought I had earlier today.

I'm leaning towards writers oversight as far as it being relevant to the story being told now rather than keeping the plot holes away.

It's not really a 180 when Dean and Sam went through the Apocalypse and stopped it. I mean, Dean didn't mind them not being born during season five, but after what the brothers went through with stopping the Apocalypse, I think it definitely meant something to Dean without the series acknowledging it via dialogue.
