When Dean was sent to Purgatory in last season's finale he was surrounded by black, red-eyed creatures. What were they? Since every monster on earth has human forms one could assume that down in Purgatory the monsters are seen in their true forms. But after seeing Leviathans in Purgatory in "Blood Brother" this apparently isn't the case. I get that this is a money issue, they don't have a large budget to work with and having Dean fighting "real monsters" would be difficult to pull off. But do you think that they will try to come up with an explanation or will they simply ignore this?

Could be budgets, but it could also be just a visual connect with the leviathan from last season. Wasn't the girl who appeared Dick's secretary? I couldn't really tell, but that's my opinion....it's also more suspenseful to NOT see the monsters that are hunting you.... -

Purgatory is a spirit realm like Heaven or Hell, souls don't look like the bodies they were in, they are just lights, so this is how Dean can comprehend where he is, same way Zach explained in Heaven. What I find strange is that previously Purgatory was described as being more hellish, blood and bone IIRC, but except for the lighting and monsters it looked like a nice place to build a cabins and go camping.Last edited by LordOfDarkness; 11-02-2012, 01:57 PM.Comment

Stranger still is how now Leviathan can be killed by anything outisde of what the Word of God said. Now they can be decapiated (which was said does not kill them) in their home dimension no less by a human and a vampire and yet the angel that is physically stronger than both of them (Dean and Benny) combined runs?Comment

Dean called those monsters gorilla-wolves. They might be extinct on earth. Angels don’t wear human vessels in heaven. Zach explained that humans are “limited.” They don’t see the angels true form. Anytime an angel is in heaven, it’s somebody’s lifelong memories. Angels always appear as humans to the souls living there.
The Winchesters have stopped leviathans before by hacking off their heads. They just have to keep the head from reattaching to the body. Otherwise they come back.

It’s because there’s no one Heaven, like Cass explained in season 6. All the angels just gather around in somebody’s Heaven. When Cass killed all those angels in the season 7 premier, he did it in some soul’s version of Heaven. Like when Cass went back to Heaven in season 6, his favorite was an eternal Tuesday afternoon of an autistic man. The souls in Heaven (plus the fans watching) just see the human vessels.Comment
