Thanks again for the figures. Great job.

    Lois: 29.91%
Waiting to see how S10 shapes up, but this must be the highest figure for any character thus far. I was expecting it.

    Tess: 2.11%
And I believe this must be the lowest.

      Thanks alot. You're very welcome.

Yeah, Season 9 Lois surpassed Seasons 6 and 8 Chloe. Even with the 10.5% drop-off in the second half, it was still well ahead of the rest. Season 10 should be interesting because I think that Lois and Clark were together in 20/21 episodes.

And I believe this must be the lowest.
I wonder why the producers decided to have so very little Clark/Tess interaction in Season 9, in comparison to Seasons 8 & 10. Something funny that I figured out - just taking Turbulence into account, Clark/Tess had 3.44% for all of Season 8. That one episode was higher than all of Season 9 combined. LOL

Another comparison is Season 4 Lionel. He had 2% for the season in just 2 appearances with Clark. Almost as high as Tess with 8 appearances with Clark.

I think that S10 (especially the first half) will be really close and might even surpass it. Lets not forget that the number of regulars dropped to 4 in S10, which meant that Clark shared more scenes with the same characters. That probably played a part in S9 Lois having more screentime with him.

Wow. Really depressing. I remember putting together the Clark/Tess awards and when it came to S9 I could remember all their scenes straight away, lol. They were that few. And too intense for my liking. Don't know if there was any reason behind that to be honest. Tess didn't share a lot of scenes with Chloe or Oliver either. She was just too stuck in the Kandorians' arc.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm still not sure that it will be higher though since Clark had a lot of screentime with the "bucket list" characters. Will have to wait and see on that in a few weeks.

It's a shame that the few scenes that they had together usually involved Clark choking and slamming her around. It makes it even worse if you consider that Clark had known that Tess was abused as a child. Not the way to show a guy who's on the verge of becoming Superman, IMO.

At least she had that whole Kandorian arc going on to give her something to do. If it wasn't that, it was the Checkmate stuff.

So, this was the first season where Lois surpassed Chloe in terms of her screentime with Clark, which isn't very surprising to me. They were majorly amping up the connection between Lois and Clark and their romantic interactions, and Clark and Chloe had become so distant from each other compared to the way they'd been for... well, 5-6 seasons. What DID surprise me was just how FEW Clark's interactions with Tess were. All those percentages are so low! I've gotta check the Season 10 thread to see how much of an increase there was by comparison. Thanks again for doing all of this, Matthew! Every one of these threads is so interesting!

^ Yeah, no surprise there about Lois being at the top. I was surprised to see that Clark/Chloe scenes in the second half actually decreased, but I guess that that's because Clark/Zod scenes got a big increase as it got closer to the end of the Kandorian saga.

It's a shame that Clark/Tess scenes were so low, and like I'd mentioned before, what little there was usually contained some form of abuse from Clark. Just terrible writing there, IMO. I waited the whole season to see some kind of payoff for that, but it never came.

              Your welcome, Jeff.

^ Yeah, you're probably right about the reason for Clark's decrease of time ispent with Chloe. And I totally agree with you about the Clark/Tess interactions as well! That was a major blunder in this season.

Here are Clark's percentages of screentime with Zod, ranked from high to low. This set didn't take me very long to put together, for obvious reasons.

                Here's the color-coding system I used:
                Season 9
                Season 10

Clark's Percentages of Screentime with Zod:

                47.74% - Upgrade
                43.18% - Conspiracy
                28.19% - Dominion
                28.17% - Disciple
                23.08% - Salvation
                17.7% - Persuasion
                8.71% - Pandora
                8.53% - Sacrifice
2.06% - Escape (indirectly by Lois/ZodBlur phone conversation)
                0.46% - Kandor

Tess should have had more screentime then Chloe imo because that was still to much All the Cless scenes were enjoyable for me because they were not talking i dont like these two in scenes at all. She deserved it imo. Tess should have had more then chloe because she brought more to the story than she did imo. All chloe did was be selfish and whine blah blah! Lois awesome she had so much screen time i love it she makes smallville bareable for me seriously. Zod should have gotten more screen time to because he is my fav villan of the series.
