Clark - He was the boy who questioned his place in the world, who wanted to be 'normal' and dreamed to be with the girl next door - a typical teenager yet still so special. And his last episode is such a contrast to everything that he was in the first. He knows what he has to do. He doesn't want to be normal, he just wants to be the hero that the world needs. Despite the ups and downs he eventually turned into the man he was destined to become - Superman.

Lana - In the beginning she was the girl next door who was every high school boy's fantasy, yet inside she's insecure, she believes her life would be tragic and that people lie to her, betray her and leave her. When she left the show, she was the one to leave the man she supposedly loved, and that man did nothing to stop her or cure her, so yeah, in a way her insecurities ironically and tragically came true and most of what came upon her was her own doing.

Chloe - Started off as the 'female' Pete, then evolved into the iconic Lana, the sidekick, the reporter who wanted to be at the Planet but suddenly started hating the Planet, the Oracle, the meteor freak, Jimmy Olsen's wife who wasn't really Jimmy Olsen, Doomsday's true love !!! the Watchtower, the cousin, the exposition queen, the greatest savior of the superheroes ever and ended the show as... *drumroll* Oliver Queen's wife?!!?? Or was she? Uh yeah. Redundant from the start till the end. There was no evolution because with her it was only ever 'fit her in according to the situation'.

Lex - Until S4 he was one of the best and most complex characters. From the man who desperately didn't want to turn into the dark Luthor to the man who slowly succumbed to his dark side, amazing evolution. I won't count S6-S7 because these seasons ruined his character, as they ruined everyone else's. Memory wipe was a pathetic end for him, but I have the consolation of knowing that he at least became what he was destined to become.

    Pete - Uh.

Martha - Like it has been said above, loving mom from beginning to end, just like the way it should have been.

Jonathan - Again, there wasn't really a point of evolving his and Martha's characters into anything. They were very much what they were supposed to be when the show started and they played the role that they were supposed to play in Clark's destiny.
