Cool. So much casting news in the past too like Indira Varma as Ellaria Sand/Martell and even Oberyn Martell has been cast. So much coolness.

Last year, I tried watching this from somewhere in the middle and found it boring.
Recently, I started watching it from the beginning and have made it through
Season Two. This show is actually addictive. The only thing that I didn't like
was the first time the dwarf was supposed to go into battle, got ran over by
his army, and when he woke up the battle was over. I like to see the battles.
I do like certain character. The dwarf's bodyguard, Snow, and the interaction
between Charles Dance's Lord and the Stark girl. I'm fairly excited to see Season
Three and more of the undead army from the North.
I guess that I should add that I like the credits scrolling through the map and
the mechanical cities. I look forward to see additional locations pop up on the
screen. I also enjoy the rich location shooting and the minimal use of CGI.Comment

That is just hilarious you guys....I think my favorite part was early on between Joffrey (aka "Jojo") and Sansa. So funny with the music playing in the background.
Jojo: I like to get freaky, get what I meeeeean?
Sansa: I can see your crack.
Jojo: Don't look at me.
Sansa: Bet your crack went out with your face.
Jojo: Do you even know what that means?
Sansa: It means you're pathetic.

LMAO at that video!
I'm now well ahead of the show, just finished the third book five days ago and more than a fifth into the fourth already and probably buy A Dance With Dragons in paperback form shortly before I finish it. My reading speed has picked up a good deal since I moved ahead of the show a couple weeks ago. Gonna be really glad when I'm fully immune to being spoiled by random ass hats or stupid entertainment sites that decide to report casting news needlessly coupled with a massive spoiler that I was unlucky to see.
Season one, while there was a good deal of changes was the closest of sticking to what happened in the books. Season two and three has a lot more changes though IMO the essence largely remains the same just things are either moved around and I still think you can skip the first book and go into A Clash of Kings without missing much of anything maybe even go to A Storm of Swords but there's a greater number of noticeable changes (or maybe I just started paying closer attention *shrug*) starting season two. Season three continued that and I imagine that season four will be even more so outside of major events that HAVE to happen though they also probably will be altered a good deal. It's a good thing and understandable given somethings just probably can't be done given limitations and if they were identical there would be no point in reading the books and the show would be a lot more boring for those who already did.
It's going to be interesting how they handle things with season four and adapt what happens in the rest of A Storm of Swords and what I assume will be up to the first half of A Feast for Crows.

I've read all the books that the author has managed to get out and there have been changes to the tv series. I find it interesting that the author is involved and may be the one changing things - some people speculate that he will finish out the series on TV and not in book form.
For last sunday's episode with the Red Wedding - I have to say I wasn't overly impressed with the changes from the book. I felt like the book version was pretty dramatic however I get they were trying to make it more dramatic since viewers haven't had as much time to grow attached to their characters but sheesh I don't think they needed to be as graphic with that one stabbing scene.......
Overall, I'm pretty happy with the casting they have done for the show even if some of the characters aren't what I was expecting.
I imagine he's a fair way through the sixth book as of now to where it'll be out within a couple years and give four or five to the last. Season four will obviously cover the rest of A Storm of Swords and a good portion of A Feast for Crows but not sure how much yet. I imagine they'll want to save a good amount of AFfC's plot points for another season given how I've heard A Dance With Dragons is set and that book might also be split into two seasons, of course I'll know better after I actually read it. So, if the next book manages to make it out by 2015 he might have another three or four years before they're totally caught up.
I think they went more for shock value with the show since they don't have the luxury of the time, build up or foreshadowing of the book. Admittedly it might actually only be foreshadowing to me because I saw the events on the show first but I'm pretty sure GRRM knew he was going to do it by the second book. They actually could have been more graphic with it if they handled the blood in the throat slitting correctly. That stabbing was certainly done the way it was for shock, especially with what they threw in prior to it happening and other changes. It was still very effective given the reaction people had. It had to be shocking and graphic being the major event it was.
With the casting again having reading the books after seeing the characters on the show I didn't get much benefit of creating my own image of many them beforehand but I get where you're coming from. At least next season there's been one casting change that should put a certain character much closer in line with the books, not saying much since the guy they used didn't resemble his book counterpart in the least bit. Oh hell, it's not a spoiler, they've reportedly recast the actor playing Daario. They did do a great job IMO for casting the main characters at the very least even with their differing in appearances from their book descriptions, including the changes certain characters go through.
I can't say enough how glad I am that cast older for certain characters and in turn made those characters older. It probably doesn't help that with the long gaps in production that the younger characters are getting way older than they otherwise would be anyway and finding good young actors that fit can be very difficult and they still won't stop growing up.Comment
