The actress is named Sahar Biniaz, who is Indian. This was actually her fourth appearance on the show, according to IMDB. She had previously appeared in the episodes "Fierce", "Identity" and "Crossfire".

Quite like that they made Hawkgirl be of Eastern heritage. Think she was the only Asian superhero on the show (while Kreuk is half-Chinese, Lana, by all account, appears to not have been). They had one black superhero in Victor Stone/Cyborg, and two Latin superheroes in the Angel of Vengeance and Blue Beetle. Granted, they included much more diversity in the season 11 comic, but most are likely just look at the main show itself.
