This is still unclear to me. In the AU, Sawyer's parents were still murdered, and likely by the same guy right (Cooper). Yet AU John said Cooper was a man he loved more than anything, implying a deeper, more life-long relationship between the two. Does this mean this Cooper was a good guy? But why would that be the case (why would he be a different person)?
Why is AU John's past different from our John's? Why are a lot of their pasts different? It seemed to me that Jacob "touched" most of them later in their lives, close to the time they would go on their fateful plane ride. Why would no Jacob/no island in the AU result in so many differences? This still doesn't make sense to me...I hope the show makes it clear by series' end.
