Based on reactions posted so far, I feel like the only one who thought the very end of this episode was pretty lame. Like they are trying to jump on the tired/overused vampire theme in every movie and show recently. Anna's mouth looked exactly like Grace Jones in Vamp from the 80s. Frankly, Diana eating the hampster in the first V was much cooler. So do all Visitors have crazy fangs like that? How do Ryan and other sleepers on earth for 20 years wander around hiding them for so long? Doesn't that get unconfortable, one would think? It is much easier to think of them sneaking a mouse as a snack behind closed doors than wandering around all day trying not to morph into some fake vampire wannabe all day long. Give me a break. The writers could have done so much better.

Why not just call this show "V", for "V"ampire?

If you thought of a vampire when that scene aired, then you completely missed the point, as it was done to emulate the feeding habits of the reptilian species that Anna - in her true form - represents. -
I Missed the point? really? The Vs are supposed to be living breathing creatures just like the rest of us, but reptilian. They are not magical super creatures with morphing superpowers like something out of supernatural or twilight or something. That is precisely my point. The way it was done with all the morphing was more vampire than natural living creature, which i thought was lame. It portrayed them too much as monsters and not enough as beings with needs like ours, which until now they had been doing, ie maternal and survival instincts etc.Comment

I get what you are saying it. It did like more like a supernatural morph, not really vampire but I can see where you get that feeling. I find it kind of weird that the species engages in cannibalism. But as the other poster said I think it was more to show that the V's have no emotional attachment and are creatures of efficiency and survival.Comment

To me, it just looked like a snake opening its mouth and lunging, with absolutely nothing supernatural about it. If you've actually seen snakes feed - either live or on video - that's exactly what they do; they open their mouths and lunge.Comment

I agree that's what it looked like to me. I didn’t see any vampire look-a-like references. It looked more like a scene from Aliens than anything else.Comment

^omg i was gonna say that! Anna's teeth looked just like the queen alien's teeth in AlienS. Maybe the teeth came out of her gums from behind her fake human teeth and she didn't really morph.
Oh and I love the original hamster eating but only because it was so cool, it looks so fake by today's standards. And I don't think that Anna eating her mate was suppose to be the updated version. I think we haven't seen the new version yet.Comment

I didn't see anything supernatural about it at all.
Snakes have fangs, and she bared hers. If anything she looked like one of these deep DEEP sea creatures, who have fangs so large that they can barely close their mouths. I found it quite apropos.Comment

There is none of the metaphor, mythology or mystique that accompanies the vampire motif... which I too have no interest in.
(well, maybe the Bliss could be construed as such, but that would be a stretch)
I don't need stuff like this to enjoy the show (though I did think it was kinda funny), but
when I saw it I thought *I bet some of the OS fans enjoyed that* ... and if so, then cool!
(not to say that I am not an OS fan)Last edited by Lenz; 04-01-2010, 12:40 AM.Comment

The species itself may not be cannibalistic, but just Anna herself. She is referred to as "The Queen" when the medical guy (I forget his name) is standing in front of the beefed up male candidates. He says "(something about building an army and survival of the species)...The Queen demands it."
Anna may engage in cannibalism in that particular ritual of fertilizing her eggs and "needing nourishment" for them simply because that was the sole purpose of the male that she chose. She is queen after all, and could have special rituals or requirements (such as said cannibalism) that the others do not. Or I could be wrong, and all females of the V's are like alien black widow spiders that eat their mates after reproducing. *shrug*
Anyway...
But back to the original topic! The ending scene of her mouth and fangs did take me by surprise a bit. Only because it looked a little awkward for me. Maybe because of the CGI? I don't know. But I liked it! I love how it shows just how creepy Anna really is despite her humanly appearance. She looked like a really pretty anglerfish http://scribalterror.blogs.com/scrib...ngler_fish.jpg !Comment

Just like snakes with big fangs feed. The fangs come out when they are attacking.
Actually Anna's fangs reminded me more of this :

I was about to say the same thing.
The fangs are to large to close her mouth.
However if they can be retracted into the jawbones, those type fangs are very possible.
But what i'm wondering is.
Did that stunt damaged her cloned skin, or are they actualy able to do that at any time.
Like the cloned skin being slightly open behind their fake humanteeth perhaps to allow their fangs to extend out if they are needed.Comment

What I want to know is if she actually ate the male drone himself, or just the human flesh clone suit for "nourishment"? It might not be cannibalism at all.Comment
