What is the literary purpose of easing into flying?
Why not have him learn it in one big dramatic moment?
Hey, congrats on the 700 thing there, DA!
I can only guess they might be going for sort of a "Dumbo" type of situation with Clark (and the viewers) suddenly finding out (after forgetting to fall) that he had the power all along and was denying it to himself. That's the only explanation I can see for the fact that every leap over the past couple of seasons has looked more and more like flying, while dialogue continues to assure us it wasn't.
┌∩┐ f you producers. you even make a kid fly. but you haven't made clark fly yet
The whole flying thing is ridiculous. Clark must be retarded not to be able to fly. Think about it. He was floating over his bed as a Freshman in High school in season 1, defying gravity. Kara can fly. In the future all of the kryptonians under the effects of an artificial red sun can fly. But Clark who has been here longer than any of them and should have more experience with his abilities cannot. Absurd!
