No, Sasha and Roy are correct. Look back over television history and I would bet that any shows that were moved around a lot ended before their time. Though Smallville has literally millions of die-hard fans, most who do watch don't check these sites, and other more mainstream entertainment sites such as TVGuide and Entertainment Weekly don't have flying banners announcing that it is airing that night.
Not to mention that no matter what night it airs on or how many people happen to be watching TV that night, the fact is the CW does not and will not invest in promoting a show that doesn't exactly meet its business model, doesn't bring in high percentages of its desired demographic (18-34), and is in its 9th year. Fans, die hard or not, SHOULDN'T have to work so hard to watch their show. That's just a fact. Unless I had been on this site, b/c I no longer watch most of CW's programming, I probably would have missed either the move to Fridays or the actual date of the premiere.
It is far too early in the season to move the show since, yes, people are still finding it since its move. That's evidenced in its ratings for Echo, as compared to Rabid. There is no doubt it would do better on another night. But the fact is, what the network is looking for is a sustainable show to hold up their Friday night and the ad revenue they get with that one demographic. Smallville only fills one of those requirements, and although we are offended by the move to Fridays and all that it insinuates, the fact is, it IS doing well there, not in COMPARISON to its previous nights/years, but put it into perspective and it is doing great. Moving it would not be a good idea for the network as a whole. And if the network fails, then so does our show.
