In the show, Clark tells Chloe that he is more sure than ever that he shouldn't tell Lois his secret. Why? She handled it very well in the episode and she keeps Oliver's secret very well.

Makes no sense to me, other than in keeping with the storyline of the Superman lore.

because he doesn't want to put her in danger, and plus with all the experience of others knowing his secret can you honestly blame him? he will eventually trust her just not on smallville.
