Jimmy's character being decimated by the writing

What has Jimmy done to deserve this?

He had to endure Chloe with her "Clark hangups" throughout their relationship, but he pushed through this
Right before his marriage he finds the love letter to Clark, and goes off crestfallen to the Ace of Clubs - and what happens there? A heart attack after a kiss from Maxima
He is then kidnapped on the night of his engagement party and tortured
He confesses that his father is a drunk and mother a waste of space
He finally marries Chloe, and a Destroyer shreds his innards as he tries to protect the ingrate Chloe
He is in the hospital recovering for many weeks, and Chloe is rarely at his side
When she is, she is critical of him, and believes in a psychopath instead
Even though still in pain, he manages to expose Davis for what he is, and no one believes him (they accuse him of being a junkie)
He drops off materials on Davis at the DP, which Tess Mercer uses no less, and STILL he remains unemployed...incredible!
The writers then have Jimmy cursing at Chloe in emails and messages - totally justified if you ask me
When Davis is finally exposed, does Chloe run back to Jimmy and apologize?? No - she does nothing...nothing except continue to support the monster that gutted her husband and who is destined to kill Clark (the one she has sworn to protect)
Divorced, broke and addicted to drugs, Jimmy now gets a job as a bartender at the Ace of Clubs, only to once again be beaten severely by another thug. How many concussions will it take for him to leave Metropolis?
The writers - in one last slap - have Jimmy buying drugs with counterfeit money he took from Bruno Manheim's office (at least that is my guess)



I've heard of artistic license, but this is ridiculous!


So what's next for Jimmy Olsen? Male Prostitute, complete with STDs? Leprosy? Hemorrhagic fever? Early onset dementia?

I know - he becomes a host for alien spores...oh wait, that already happened when one of the Zoners speared him with her tree branches...silly me!

I like the character of Jimmy on smallville very much and while i don't like the story line of him turning to drugs at least they were prescribed originally. He just split from his wife, lost his dream job and was almost destroyed by doomsday. So while this doesn't justify what he's doing at least he didn't just go out and become a junkie he got addicted to prescribed medication and he could still be in a lot of pain. Either way Jimmy will bounce back and be as awesome and quirky as ever.

Is this storyline suppose to be entertaining? Is it suppose to lead somewhere for Jimmy?

Get this dude to rehab or put him out of his misery and let him OD already.

If Jimmy dies then CW can do a Don't do Drugs shout out during the commercials.

It's quite entertaining to me. But I believe I know where it's heading and I'm patient about it. Oliver Queen is going to step in help Jimmy which will on many levels help him as well. Both jimmy and Chloe have fallen nearly to rock bottom. But guess what! The season is nearly over and so is all of this tragedy in their lives. jimmy will come around. Perhaps he WILL leave Metropolis/Smallville when it's all over. But I have no doubt he will be on the better side of things.

I hate what they're doing to Jimmy as much as I hated what they did with Pete in Hero. Both characters deserve better & both need to be brought back & fixed next season. Enough's enough already.

They've been taking some of the most likable, believable, and somewhat normal characters (for a sci-fi television show, anyway) and have been beating them down all season, and for what? I suppose it will add to some characterization, and maybe it'll make them that much more determined and stronger down the road, but I, too, am saddened by and tired of what they're doing to Jimmy, and to Chloe as well, who's had plenty of burdens to shoulder throughout this entire season. It's a wonder the two of them aren't checking themselves into Belle Reeve after all the mental stress and anguish they've gone through in the past year.

What did Chloe do to deserve being stuck as Clark's sidekick for Seasons 5 to 7?
What did Oliver do to deserve being made a killer?
What did Lois do to deserve having her interest in writing be so lightswitch?
What did Clark do to deserve Season 7?

The writers seem to choose a character and just dump everything on them at times.

But they can bring them back, they have done with Clark this season.
