Was Lilith smart or just that powerful?

I always thought that Alistair was a good deal more powerful than Lilith. Alistair was supposed to be Lucifers right hand demon, the head torturer in Hell.

So how come Sam could only give Lilith windy hair? Did she have some kind of unusual protective spell or is she just that powerful?

Maybe Sam & Ruby started a new fad that Lilith decided to try out herself... "Feeling weak? Drink demon blood. High in sulfur and doesn't cause heartburn! Caution though, the Surgeon General warns that consumption of said product can cause loss of one's common sense. Partake of at own risk.".

Whichever it was, it's stupid. First Lillith flees from Sam in the S3 finale when he's advancing on her with Ruby's knife, then the knife just makes Alistair grit his teeth, then Sam destroys Alistair, then he can't even scratch Lillith.

..Uh, yeah.

Alright, my Devil's Advocate is acting up, so here are some justifications (may or may not be true).

When Sam killed Alistair, he had just juiced up very recently, which may have artificially inflated his strength. He had come down off his high significantly when facing Lilith.

Maybe Lilith really just is that much more powerful than Alistair. They're both white-eyes (not that we really have much information about what that means) but they are just on two different levels. Bruce Lee and a three-day old infant are both human, after all. Lilith fleeing from Sam earlier may have just been a miscalculation. She thought he was more powerful than he was because she couldn't nuke him.

If she was just bluffing, and was wearing some one-time-use protective amulet or spell or something, that would just be awesome. Make Sam think that he needed to get way more powerful to hurt her, and she would have time to break seals willy-nilly until he was strong enough or until he figured out the ruse. Sure it's risky, but it might buy her some time, and if she wins then it won't matter how powerful Sam has gotten.

Of course, if she was really smart, then Lilith would have just strapped a few pounds of C4 onto her host and blown them both to hell. She can find another meat suit, Sam can't.
