Taking Ben to the "Others" - I don't get it.

Knowing what they know, it seems that Sawyer and Kate are putting Ben on the path that will make him leader of the "Others." It will also cause the death of all of the Darma people. How can they condone this? Don't they watch Star Trek? "The needs of the many" and all that.

cause it was destiny. it was ment to happen. i think bringing ben to the others was the only way to save him where if jack saved him he would of been good. maybe they are hoping something can change by getting the help of the others

They also can't condone the death of at this time, an innocent boy. It's a catch-22. Also, who knows what would happen if Ben died. Would the entire space time continum be destroyed? There's so many repracussions for Ben dying, they didn't know what would happen so the best thing to do is to save him.
