Could at least have put the date the right way round seeing as it's a British show...

I am trying to find out too.

Today on BBC America it is the 2006 Christmas special, and no Dr. Who on Sci-Fi.

Had it's ups and downs. mainly downs. the cybershades were a wasted opportunity, the Cyberking was just silly and at no point were the cybermen a believable threat. the infothingies and the story about the other doctor were good though (although his acting wasn't great).

Better than the other Christmas specials though.

well....just in time for the end of xmas day...i jumped in my tardis and traveling to england and caught the show.....

    spoilers........ follow...............

    so the plot is
man loses his wife by cyberman
    gets shocked
    thinks he is the doctor
    real doctor shows up
eventually figures out he is not the next doctor
    he is just a man
the doctor saves the day from the cyberman/cyberking
the doctor shares xmas dinner for once

I have also included my favorite quotes and some comments ...................

i liked it ...roseitta companion name.
    don't blink reference
    john smith.
"with everything a time lord has lost i am sure he has bad dreams"
"the answer to all this is inside your tardis" "can i see it"
"it would be my pleasure mr.smith"
"the perfect escape" do you wonder what your escaping from?"
    "i could do this forever"
disapointing to find out he is not the doctor but jackson lake...
"you wanted to become the doctor cause jackson lake
i was bummed out when i realized he was not the doctor just
someone who lost his wife and believed he was the doctor....
"can i say i am completely disapprove" punch made me laugh out loud.
the cyber king will rise tonight
"emotions have tormented you your whole life"
    "have you no pity"
    "correct".
    "all hail the cyber king"

Lots of nice little parts, yes. Worked as a whole? Not for me.

I'm someone who generally defends the Christmas specials - I loved VotD etc. (except The Runaway Bride - that was pants) despite others not immediately, but I can't defend this. It just lacked a certain punch.

Some of the effects were woeful - the CyberKing itself just looked cartoony against a fake London skyline.

The Doctor being a human who'd had the datastore make him think he was the Doctor was something you could see coming a mile off, so obvious once they found the stores.

    The "TARDIS" was cool though.

Anyway, opportunity missed. They should have done something along the lines of the "The One Doctor" audio play, would have been far more entertaining. 2/5 for me. Roll on "Planet of the Dead" at Easter!

Oh, and Merry Christmas Randy, and everyone on here. Except one.
