Sylar and the Vortex

I've been thinking about this ever since I watched the scene. When Stephen Canfield opened a vortex in his house and ran, Claire, HRG, and Sylar were all getting sucked in. However, Sylar seems to be able to just get up and walk around the other side to save Claire. How is this possible?

I don't remember every single power that Sylar's 'collected', but was it a power that enabled him to do this? Thanks for any comments regarding this.

He probaly used his TK, which he's used before to levitate.

I don't remember him just walking around the other side to save Claire. It seems to me he was closest to her and reached out his hand. Anyways, I don't think the logistics of how he got there mattered to the writers. The point was to have Sylar save Claire because A) there's irony in the fact that previously he had her brain open and now he's saving her and B) she hates him but has no choice in letting him save her.
