would you like him to play BOTH ZOD & Jor-el (assuming that ZOD returns to the show)? I'd like it, I guess!

What about you guys? YES? NO?

I think it might be confusing for Terrence Stamp to play both General Zod and Jor-El on Smallville. I remember reading an old interview that Craig did with Gough and Millar (I think back in the 4th season), and they had intended to have Terrence Stamp appear as Jor-El if they ever ended up being able to do it on the show and Stamp actually was available.

But what if used a different accent (assuming that he could)?

Terrence Stamp already actually appeared as Zod, briefly, in "Zod", after being defeated by Clark.

It was a likeness of his Zod from the movies. But if Stamp appears in person as Jor-El, they can have him wear a wig. Is there any way they can send a crew to the UK to film him there so they could show his image talking in the FOS? I would also love to see him in a flashback scene. But maybe they can use Tom for a young Jor-El for that.

It wasn't Terrance Stamp though was it? It was some CGI shape. They could cast someone else and give them that beard if Zod returns or there's a flashback.

Also, they established that Jor-el looks like Tom Welling so... I dunno.

Right it was just CGI, as xrayvision said, it was just based on his likeness in Superman II.

Of course, nowadays, Terrence Stamp has no beard and has white hair, so I don't think it would be too much trouble having appear as Jor-El theoretically. However, they did write themselves into a corner with "Relic" and Lara thinking Clark was Jor-El in "Blue" at first, considering Tom Welling does not have a British accent or look anything like Terrence Stamp ;).

Well... we could pretend that "Relic" doesn't exist. LOL!

Terrence Stamp is awesome. I loved both roles, but I believe it's time the "Zod torch" be passed on to a predecessor. Mr. Stamp finally making an appearance as Jor-El, would be monumental.
I consider the continuity concerning the lack of an accent in Relic, and the character of Jor-El, pretty much a "non-issue." I would like to think that, other fans would be willing to do the same, and welcome him unconditionally.

So explain how he goes from looking like Clark, to how he actually looks?

Marlon Brando's head appears: "Kal-El my only son..."
Terance Stamp's head knocks him off: "You will rule by strength!"
Tom Welling's head knocks him over: "You know, earth girls are hot!"
Brando's head comes back: "Do not listen to the imposters' Kal-El! I am your father!"
Stamp's head pushes him aside: "No, do not be decieved! listen to my voice Kal-El! I am your father!"
Out of no where Darth Vader appears: "No Luke, I am your father."
Clark: "My names not Luke..."
Darth Vader looks around: "Isn't this Hoth?"
Welling's head: "No this is the fortress of solitude, Hoth is the next studio over."
Darth Vader: "Oh... sorry about that, this mask you see..."
Brando's head: "Perfectly understandable son,"
Stamp's head: "Wait, he's your son now too?"

I think TS should only come on as Jor-EL, not ZOD.

I think Lionel's head would have to be floating around there too - his use of "son" was always ambiguous! ;)

As for TS playing Zod? Too old now I'm afraid. Personally I'm happy just having his voice as Jor-el. I've said before how much I enjoy any scene with him in it, purely for the quality of his delivery. I think never seeing a face only adds to the enigma that is Smallville's Jor-el.

That wasn't Terence Stamp. It wasn't even a real person, it was CGI.

I assumed that it was just a CGI ZOD also but looked like Terance. I'd really like to have TS play ZOD but I guess you guys are right...he's too old to play him in SV. And to answer your questions about how they could get away with Treance playing Jor-el in the show well... Didn't Tom Welling portray his father in episodes where he was Clarks age? Well the answer's easy then! They could just say that as Clark gets older he looks a lot like TS.

Exactly. Who's to say what Welling will look like at that age? ;)

They could just say that Kryptonians change, evolve, grow up differently than us. How ever you wanna put it.

Yeah but hang on, poor old Terrence is a veritable weed compared to TW's man of steelesque physique. You're asking us to accept a lot of muscle wastage in old age!
A debilitating Kryptonian muscle disease possibly? ;)

Ray Man

Who know? It could happen though. Seems anything's possible in SV it seems LOL. They could just show us Jor-els head if they wanted to. That'd solve the problem about TS's body.

^^^ A bit like they do with pregnant actresses (that and loose-fitting dresses!) Maybe they could film TS from a low angle to give him the impression of size, and everyone else from a high angle!

Yep. The first thing out of Lara's mouth when she saw Clark was "Jor-El". If they ever show Jor-El's face......It will have to look like an older Tom.

After Eternal retconned the hell out of SV's history, I don't see why they can't overlook Lara's reaction and the Relic flashbacks (Jor El romancing a Lana lookalike, yikes!).

I say bring on Terrence Stamp as Jor El. :D

Hopefully they'll give the show enough $ for us to see Jor-El in the flesh. If they are gonna have Clark living in the FoS like some hope he will, he'll eventually ask his Father what he looked like.

Terence Stamp playing both Jor-El and Zod? Never occurred to me. I like the idea but it begs the question: can someone his age play a Kryptonian immortal? To make it worki they would need to write in something to explain his age.

What if the Jor-El we've heard is Zod and we haven't seen the real Jor-El yet?

I love that kind of conspirasy paranoia. The universe would fold in upon itself! But then who would the real Jor-El turn out to be?* That merits a thread of its own. And an awful lot of retroactive continuity.

* Who woul;d then play the real Jor-El?
Anyone want to follow up on this?

Kryptonians are not immortal by default. They are powerless on Krypton but they have strange abilities in our Solar System due to the yellow Sun. Jor El spent his entire life on Krypton (except for some temporary visits to Earth). He would therefore have aged on Krypton like any other regular Krypton. His hologram could represent him as he looked in the last days of his life and it wouldn't be unusual to see him as an aged Kryptonian. He would not appear in the flesh.
