I don't know if you guys feel the same way. But wow Tom and Erica really clicked in that scene in the end. Thats something I didn't see in the last episode. Most of there scenes together last week seemed forced. No sign of that this week though. It seems that the actors are starting to get a real feel for there characters. Which is surprising since I thought it would take more episodes for the two to hit there stride. Well it looks there is hope to this Clois ship after all. I really hope all there scenes are that good in the coming episodes.

Agreed. It looks like it could become one of the Best scenes they'll Ever do together, IMO. Except, I also thought that they were great together whenever they are bouncing off of one another with their verbal tongue-tagging. In particular, when they were going to the bomb site and Clark & Lois were discussing Clark's recent visit with their new boss. Lois sort of made a reference about Clark having a charming smile. Clark accused Lois of sounding like a jealous girl friend. It was a fun interaction, and I'm glad that Clark isn't being abused by her, but turns her jabs back at her. I looking forward to the rest of the season to see just how this 'partnership' develops.

Their scenes together still feel forced to me.It almost seems to me they don't know how to play their relationship at all.And sorry that I have to say that but Tom's acting was bad in Toxic.Like very bad.Not nearly as good as in the Season premiere.JMHO

its never forced to me..

lois and clark is more natural than clana being forced down our throats when they do not belong together forever and its more natural than chlark which isnt even in the mytho.

I dont think it's forced at all.
But I agree, that the Toxic Clois scene is one of my favorites now!

I agree. I never found Lois and Clark being 'forced'. The way Lois talks, the way she acts, she seems so natural around Clark, and vice versa.

Aw, come on...can we talk about this without baiting for a shipper war?

Personally, I've never felt any Clois scene to be forced, but I might have to agree with the OP that this was one of the better Clois scenes. I love the scenes where one of them has to comfort the other - they definitely have a different sort of approach to it than is taken with other characters. For example, Lois telling him that you have to trust yourself...that one's no charge. She was honest with him about how she views dealing with whatever feelings linger for Ollie, but she also pointed out that the advice works for him too.

From the Harley conversation to Siren to Toxic, there has been a lovely progression of Clois interaction and comfort. Lois comforted Clark with the Harley talk, Clark comforted her in Siren, and there was a bit of the both of them comforting each other in Toxic. Clark was there for Lois, and though she wasn't emotionally up to a roller coaster ride there, she gave him advice as well, in her own way.

I loved the interaction with the cup - subtle, but oh so Clois. The look on Clark's face...!

I do have to say, also, that one of the things that I think was nice about this scene was how it spun one thing on its head.

In the past, Clark has comforted Lois. However, it's always been on her terms, to the extent that she has first let him know that she was hurting. In "Siren" she was very open about the fact that she was hurting, and he comforted her. Even in Lucy, it was obvious that she was upset about her sister. Here, though, she was trying to play it off like she wasn't. She all but put up flags saying, "Do not want to talk about it" but Clark knew that she needed to talk to someone and so he hung in there until she caved and opened up to him.

It was an interesting insight into how much these characters have come to know each other, that Clark can now tell when Lois needs to talk about something even when it seems she doesn't want to. Lois has a lot of pride and an exterior shell that's hard to crack, but it's nice to see that Clark has come to know her well enough to know that, in fact, what you see with Lois isn't always 100% what you get. When she's hurting, she's not usually going to wear her heart on her sleeve.

I really liked this interaction. I think I'll go watch that scene again!

I loved that scene at the DP. She was beautiful, with her hair up, he looked gorgeous in that suit and they had this mature, honest talk. No teasing, no banter, just two people who really care about each other sharing their feelings. He was supportive, she wasnt' defensive. I saw the beginning of the great couple they'll become.

It's not forced at all, although my favorite scene is still the last scene at the end of Odyssey with Clark walking away smiling.

Really? You thought Tom Welling's acting was bad? :( ... but we hardly saw him. This was definitely Green Arrow/Oliver Queen's episode.
I'm curious to know what you thought was bad about Welling's performance. Just for the sake of discussion, if you will.

... and back on topic... I rather enjoyed the part where Clark puts his hand on Lois' shoulder. She hid her tears from him and he was just there, being a good friend. Overall, however, the Clois aspect of the show is growing on me. I wasn't sure if I was ready to see that relationship, but I'm satisfied with how it is being developed.

Hold it right there. I didn't say all the Clois scenes have felt forced. I was talking about last weeks episode. Which I expected since that was the first episode where the two actors had to try and interpret there growing feelings for each other. I don't know, I just didn't feel anything from those two in that episode. Here there interactions felt genuine, the looks they gave each other, the way they delivered there lines, it just all clicked.

Personally, I'm LOVING the Clois interaction this season..None of it, to me, has felt forced in any way, shape, or form...
I agree that, that last scene at the DP was one of the best Clois scenes to date! Probably one of my favorites so far this season:D...I loved the how she stole his coffee cup, and then at the end tricked him into doing the 'kitten adoption' story and Clark's smile at the end...Perfection!...So Clois! :)

Did anyone notice that the cup said 'Clark'? I thought that was cute. The cup had his name and she stole it anyway.

Oh yeah, I noticed. I'll bet Clark put his name on the cup deliberately, not realizing that Lois is the type to miss the tree for the forest, a la Clark's bespectacled disguise. I have my hopes for seeing those glasses eventually.

I love their banter and tender support of each other. To me the Clois is one of the most satifying aspects of this season.Reminds me of the old L&C series (pre season 4).
Can't wait to see them grow even closer as the show progresses.

TW's acting was not bad. The only reason darkone thought that, was because he wasnt acting with Kristen. He's gonna think all the scenes have bad acting if Lana isnt there:rolleyes:

I thought the scene was really sweet. I think it showed a progression in their relationship, as other's have posted. I have never thought any Clark/Lois scenes were forced. The two actors seem to have such natural chemistry. So far, the end scene in Odyssey and this scene are my Clois favorites.

I loved that scene except for Lois being allergic to cats. So, she's allergic to dogs and cats? She has a cat in the comics, I believe.

But, I loved the cup scene. OMG--I burst out laughing. Not so much from Lois' action, but Clark's reaction. His face went from surprised to confused to betrayed and then defeated in a four second duration. His hand reaching helplessly out for his coffee was doubly cute. It was a 100% classic Lois and Clark moment. Loved that the most.

I have to say-this was one of my favorites too..I mean, how could Clark be so inconsiderate as to not buy her coffee or offer his to her?

I never felt any of Tom and Erica scenes are forced. I don't only mean their scenes together, but also their scenes separately. All the actors in Smallville really are talented, and I don't remember seeing any of their acting feel forced, especially Tom and Erica. These two really have great chemistry onscreen since the beginning. They bring out something different to the show when they're together and yet, it feels so natural to see them together.

Speaking about the topic at hand, yeah, I do believe this clois scene is one of the best Clois scenes ever written. I think all Clois scenes in Smallville so far are really right on spot.

Well darkone is entitled to his/her opinion. On first viewing some of the Clois in "Plastique" seemed forced to me so I can understand where this POV comes from.

But on subsequent viewings it was simply delightful. Toxic has had some of the best Clois scenes this season. I liked how the last scene wasn't heavy handed. They didn't feel the need to duplicate anything that's happened in the past (Siren, Arctic) in terms of sappy bonding. I love the sappy bonding. But I was glad that they kept things light and friendly in this scene.

I also liked that... Lois and Clark's interactions felt so familiar in this episode. Someone mentioned Clark's quick reactions. When she turned the conversation around on him - as though she were the one being supportive and giving advice - Clark did the quick reaction thing again and I recognized them from past episodes!

Clois just gets better and better.
