View Full Version : Injection without circulation?

Ok, I might be too critical because of my medical background, but I would've hoped that they'd at least continue resuscitation after they injected the antidote... If the heart's not beating, that antidote isn't going to flow through the body on it's own, it needs a little help. Anyone else notice this bit of bad screenplay?

It didn't bother me because I was just enjoying the show as entertaiment. I don't want to start letting small things like that bother me. It's not ER so if they aren't medically correct no big deal, we got the point. At least I did.

Yes, you're right. I was thinking exactly the same about his heart, obviously not pumping anymore, so how was that antidote supposed to help anyway.

But well, that's the world of science fiction - again - and sometimes we've to swallow such little mistakes, I guess.

But nevertheless, it was an awsome episode and therefore I can live with mistakes like that.

I want to know what kind of monitor they were using that senses temperature, HR, and all of that, without having anything other than a screen and a couple leads. Where was the rest of it?

i understand your complaint about the injection is not that realistic.
but i mean this in the best light and do not want to break any rules.
of all the things to say are completely unrealistic on smallville...injection into a body without a heart beat did not make my top ten complaints.

I hoped you giggled , and happy friday. All the best!

My biggest gripe, is the totally unrealistic portrayal of both pre hospital, and hospital medicine. I mean, heck, we had a girl who was poisoned, and there wasn't one person even in her room, nor did she appear to be being monitored in any way shape or form.

Then don't even get me started on how quickly Paramedic Bloom there would be fired if he actually did anything like that in the real world.

Davis was practically running the hospital! LOL!

That was stupid, but as for the no heart beating, no one that isn't in the medical field daily for their job will notice something like that, nor should they.

Can't believe people noticed that in the first place. This is Smallville maybe the antidote was designed to work once in the heart, so anything could happen.

I sat there and thought, ummm Davis doesn't have "MD" after his name

Who's he to call out the meds? I know it's just a show but they could've at least called the doc on on that one.

Well, let's not open the airway or lower the head when doing CPR. Wouldn't want to facilitate circulation to the brain by maximizing the effectiveness of compressions and how long ago was bloom CPR certified? Little refresher might be nice. But hey, it's a TV show and it's fantasy so I can roll with it all. Not the first time questionable medical practices have showed up on TV. I liked how quickly the flower scratch killed Tess's assailant.

Yeah I thought it odd that he turned up with all those meds on his own - I mean don't paramedics usually work in a pair and with an ambulance?

How would he account for all that time missing from work? Unless he was off his shift but then how would he get the bag of drugs and monitoring equipment without the ambulance? Paramedics don't carry that stuff around with them and they don't drive the ambulance home and park it outside their house either so not sure how that would happen!

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree, I spent over two years working Security in an ER, and NO ONE could have gotten away with what he did.
Plus, I know that a Paramedic/EMT must account for every molecule of a drug. Everything is checked before and after a shift.
At least that is how it is here.

Things work differently in smallville and metropolis.
